Wrinkles around the eyes: why they appear, how to remove them in cosmetology and at home

Skin folds on the lower and upper eyelids appear due to age-related changes in the epidermis. After 25 years, skin cells and muscle fibers lose their natural elasticity, skin turgor decreases, and soft tissue sagging appears in the periorbital area. Innovative cosmetology methods will help remove skin folds around the eyes, crow's feet and expression wrinkles.

Wrinkle removal using injection method

Procedures for removing folds on the eyelids take place in a cosmetology office under the supervision of a specialist. Active substances or your own fat cells are injected into the periorbital area using a small diameter needle.

After the injection, the epidermis is smoothed due to the replenishment of the intercellular space or blocking of muscle fibers. With other injection techniques, metabolic processes in the tissues of the epidermis are accelerated, and the production of natural collagen and elastin in the skin increases. Injection methods:

Home Remedies

The following home remedies can reduce wrinkles and eliminate them gradually. If your teen has sensitive skin, allergies, or other skin conditions, consult a dermatologist before trying any home remedies.

Get a facial massage

Massaging your face with olive oil, almond oil, or coconut oil can hydrate the skin and improve blood circulation, which can ultimately lead to smoother wrinkles. Start by cleansing your face with warm water followed by steaming to open up your skin's pores.

Use the oil to massage your face using deep, stimulating circular motions. They should massage their face daily to reduce wrinkles.

Apply honey

Honey contains several antioxidants that can neutralize free radicals that cause premature skin aging. It also contains compounds that can help clear away dead skin cells, reduce fine lines and wrinkles. For best results, apply raw honey to your face and neck and leave on for 20-30 minutes. Wash your face with warm water. You can also combine honey with milk, yogurt, green apple or banana for better results.

Use aloe vera

Aloe vera gel can increase collagen production, improve skin elasticity and promote skin tightening. Aloe vera also contains several vitamins that can help ward off wrinkle-causing free radicals. Massage your face with aloe vera gel so that it penetrates into the pores of your skin. Leave on for 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Do this procedure daily.

Use an egg white mask

Egg whites are rich in micronutrients and proteins that help fight free radicals and prevent wrinkles. You can make this mask by separating the egg white from the yolk and whisking it. Apply with a brush to your face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. Make sure you buy organic eggs from a reputable source, as raw eggs can sometimes contain pathogens such as salmonella bacteria.

Apply vitamin C creams

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that can fight free radicals and play a vital role in collagen synthesis. Using face creams rich in vitamin C can help improve collagen production, ultimately reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Your teen may consider applying a night cream before bed. Wash your face with warm water and apply the cream according to the instructions on the package.

Most home remedies are backed by little scientific evidence. Therefore, it is best to consult a dermatologist before trying them. You can also consult a dermatologist if you want to explore treatments for teen wrinkles.

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is used for the first signs of aging of the eyelid skin: deep and superficial wrinkles. After the procedure, the skin becomes smooth and elastic, water-lipid metabolism is restored, and the skin color acquires a healthy shade.

Procedure technique: intradermal injections of hyaluronic acid are made into the periorbital area. Along with it, the solution contains amino acids, enzymes, and vitamins. The result of the manipulation: deep wrinkles are smoothed out, the skin on the eyelids is tightened, the face looks younger. The effect of mesotherapy becomes noticeable after 15 – 20 days.

Clinical manifestations of crow's feet

Specialists from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) divide wrinkles around the eyes into 2 types:

  1. Dynamic - occur when the underlying facial muscles move. They appear during a smile, frowning of the eyebrows, “squinting” the gaze to the side and disappear with a neutral facial expression.
  2. Static - formed as a result of active facial expressions against the background of age-related changes and photodamage to the skin. Visible all the time, even during sleep.

Employees of two universities - Sao Paulo and Santo Amaro - in their scientific work proposed a classification of periorbital wrinkles, which they recommend using to select treatment tactics for patients ( Fig. 1 ):

  • Type I - wrinkles extending from the outer edge of the eye to the eyebrow and zygomatic process.
  • Type II - wrinkles extending from the outer edge of the eye to the zygomatic process.
  • Type III - single wrinkles limited to the outer edge of the eye.

In addition, there is the Fitzpatrick classification ( Table 1 ) and the 5-point Wrinkle Severity Scale ( Fig. 2 ) - they can also be used to assess the degree of changes in the periorbital zone and select a therapeutic approach.

Table 1. Fitzpatrick classification of periorbital wrinkles

Class Points Expression of wrinkles Degree of elastosis
I 1–3 Fine wrinkles Mild - slight changes in skin texture with visible lines
II 4–6 Fine to moderate wrinkles Moderate - clear signs of elastosis, papules, some yellowing of the skin and dyschromia
III 7–9 Moderate to deep wrinkles with sagging skin Severe - multiple papules merging with each other; thinned yellow skin, diamond-shaped skin of the neck (cutis rhomboidalis nuchae)

Biorevitalization

The technique of implementation of biorevitalization is similar to mesotherapy: hyaluronic acid is injected into the epidermis. The difference is that with mesotherapy the effect does not last long, because in addition to the acid, the solution contains substances that are not independently synthesized at the cellular level. During biorevitalization, a week after the injection, active production of its own hyaluronic acid occurs, due to which the skin of the eyelids is rejuvenated and tightened naturally. The procedure can be performed on girls and women from 25 years of age.

PREPARATION FOR THE PROCEDURE, REHABILITATION, CONTRAINDICATIONS

To remove wrinkles under the eyes after 40 years or at an earlier age (from 25-30 years), you do not need to give up your usual lifestyle, but you need to make some adjustments to improve the results of the procedure and minimize possible side effects. 2 weeks before and a month after the procedure, you need to stop visiting solariums, beaches, and increased physical activity; stop taking blood thinning medications a week or at least 3-4 days. After rejuvenation, you should not sunbathe, visit baths, saunas, or use decorative cosmetics. Contraindications – acute and chronic diseases, pathological changes in the epidermis in the area, cancer, other serious pathologies, lactation and pregnancy. There are also relative contraindications - they are rather precautionary measures.

Laser therapy

The procedure is carried out under local anesthesia: an analgesic cream is applied to the eyelid area. Resurfacing the skin around the eyes with a laser beam removes the upper layer of the dermis to a depth of 130 microns. As a result, after several procedures, the epidermis is completely cleared of the outer layer of cells, and the production of new cellular structures at the level of the basal layer is activated. Laser wrinkle removal technology is carried out at the site of formation of facial folds and age-related changes in the skin of the eyelids.

Reasons for appearance

The main reason why a nasolacrimal trough develops is age-related changes. Skin and muscle structures that have lost their tone sag, and the subcutaneous tissue becomes thinner. As a result, a deep crease appears, which over time even thick foundations and concealers cannot hide.

However, age is not the only reason for the formation of wrinkles in this area. There is a wide list of factors that significantly accelerate furrow formation:

  • bad habits: frequent drinking of alcohol, smoking;
  • poor nutrition, predominance of fatty, salty, sweet foods in the diet;
  • chronic stress, emotional swings;
  • lack of sleep and rest;
  • endocrine diseases;
  • lack of weight control: obesity, sudden weight loss;
  • lack of moisture in the body and skin, dehydration;
  • improper skin care, abuse of low-quality decorative cosmetics;
  • genetic predisposition to a special type of skin aging.

For some, the furrow can remain as a pale line for years, while for others it can go from slightly noticeable to a deep and pronounced fold in a few months. Therefore, you need to think about how to remove a tear trough immediately after its appearance.

Photorejuvenation

The technique for removing visual defects on the skin around the eyes is based on the use of a light beam of a certain frequency. A light-conducting gel is applied to the periorbital area, after which the eyelid skin is treated with short light flashes. The photorejuvenation procedure is not suitable for women with dark skin. The method of removing wrinkles using a light beam has a long-lasting effect - the skin of the eyelids remains elastic and taut for three years.

Among the classic cosmetic products, one cannot fail to mention chemical peeling.

How to permanently remove wrinkles on the skin after sleep

Morning wrinkles on the face: how to get rid of them?

Our body needs a full night's sleep to replenish strength, activate tissue regeneration, and process information received during the day. Many people are used to sleeping on their side, on their stomach, or with their face buried in a pillow. Eight hours of sleep in this position negatively affects the condition of the face. Skin creases after sleep are folds on the chin, cheeks and neck that form after lying on your side or stomach for many hours.

Why do creases appear?

The first sleep wrinkles appear during studenthood. At first these are barely noticeable folds that disappear within 2 hours. In middle-aged people, creases after sleep eventually turn into furrows that cannot be gotten rid of. Over the years they become deeper and more noticeable. When lying face down, with the head and neck turned to the side, the outflow of lymph is disrupted. The liquid remains for a long time in loose skin tissues, in particular under the eyelids. This is how wrinkles and swelling around the eyes form.

Morning wrinkles are caused by the pillow stretching and squeezing your skin under the weight of your body. They can coincide with existing wrinkles, increase their depth, or arise independently. On the skin of an adult, they smooth out more slowly every day, and after 35 years they become permanent.

Types of creases on the face

Depending on the depth, plastic surgeons distinguish the following types of creases on the face:

● Superficial or epidermal. They are formed due to lack of hydration and look like thread-like lines located in the upper layer of the epidermis. ● Medium-deep. The folds reach the inner layers of the skin and are a consequence of the deepening of the epidermal layers. ● Deep – noticeable raised grooves affecting the middle and deep layers down to the hypodermis.

When epidermal folds appear, the skin can be helped by restoring the balance of moisture and lipids. When mid-deep wrinkles occur, procedures will be needed to restore the collagen structures of the skin and strengthen the dermal-epidermal connection.

How to deal with them

As an adult, it is difficult to get rid of morning wrinkles. Even with careful facial care, the effect of cosmetic procedures is lost. Every evening you will again stretch and deform the skin. A moisturizing sheet mask in the morning will help quickly smooth out wrinkles on your face after sleep. The essence of the mask will fill the skin with nutrients, refresh and eliminate the effects of a night's rest. For the area under the eyes you need to use cooled hydrogel patches. They will eliminate wrinkles and reduce swelling.

Hardware methods from a cosmetologist

Deep furrows that have formed after years of improper sleep cannot be eliminated with cosmetic preparations. A professional cosmetologist will help smooth out the skin and select the optimal hardware technique. Today beauty salons offer a number of procedures:

1. Laser resurfacing. 2. Ultrasonic SMAS lift. 3. Microcurrent therapy. 4. RF lifting.

Laser resurfacing removes the top layers of skin, evening out the texture and tone. Under the influence of the beam, the production of elastin and collagen increases, tissue regeneration accelerates, and the depth of folds on the face decreases. The rejuvenation effect lasts up to 3 years. SMAS ultrasound lifting is recommended for women with thin dermis. The method works perfectly with aging skin at the SMAS level (the border of subcutaneous fatty tissue and muscle fibers) and is one of the effective options for rejuvenation.

Smas-lift is suitable for eliminating ptosis on the cheeks and under the eyes. In combination with biorevitalization or botulinum therapy of the forehead, the procedure gives a long-lasting rejuvenating effect. Microcurrent therapy is also used to combat furrows. The technique is based on the contraction of muscle fibers under the influence of electrical impulses. The procedure smoothes the skin and provides a lasting lifting effect. RF lifting is carried out using electromagnetic radiation, which stimulates tissue regeneration. The effectiveness of the procedure depends on the woman’s age and lasts up to two years.

Prevention of facial wrinkles

The most effective prevention of skin wrinkles is sleeping on your back. A pillowcase made of natural silk will help avoid the appearance of furrows. The fabric minimizes friction against the skin, preventing the formation of wrinkles. Sleeping on natural silk helps prevent acne and eczema. If you cover yourself at night with a blanket filled with glass microbeads, this will also help avoid the appearance of morning creases. The presence of such a weighting agent activates the production of the hormones serotonin and dopamine. Therefore, the body easily relaxes, and uniform pressure throughout the body will help you sleep and not toss and turn. Do not drink a lot of liquid at night and ventilate the bedroom. Be sure to remove makeup and moisturize your skin before going to bed. These rules will help keep your face smooth.

Chemical peeling

The essence of the chemical peeling procedure: organic acid is applied to the skin around the eyes, dissolving keratinized particles of the epidermis. Due to the active components of the acid, active growth of cells in the basal layer of the skin begins, metabolic processes at the cellular level are stimulated, and fibroblasts are produced. As a result, the dermis layer thickens, the skin is saturated with moisture, and protective functions are enhanced, preventing the removal of fluid from the intercellular space. Gentle organic acids are used to carry out the procedure. The effect of the procedure lasts about two months. Then it is recommended to repeat the chemical peeling.
