Women's breasts: when shape and size matter
The female breast is the most exciting and exciting part of the body of the fair sex. At the same time, like any other organ, the mammary gland of each woman is individual and unique. It is difficult to argue with the fact that the size and shape of a woman’s breasts largely determine the attractiveness of the figure of its owner. So what do you need to know about the features of the mammary gland and how to get the ideal breast shape that attracts the admiring glances of every man?
What determines the shape and size of a woman's breasts?
Despite the close attention of representatives of the opposite sex to the female breast, in its physiological role this organ is primarily the mammary gland. It is interesting that the glandular part, which secretes milk during breastfeeding, occupies only a small part of the breast and is divided into 15-20 lobes by fatty and connective tissue. The shape and volume of the breast is completely determined by the amount of fatty tissue located at the base of the mammary gland and the individual anatomical features of the structure of the organ.
On average, the weight of a woman’s mammary gland ranges from 200 to 400 grams, which changes significantly with changes in the body weight of its owner. So losing weight or gaining one kilogram is accompanied by a change in breast weight by about 20 grams.
Along with the change in figure, the size of the breast also changes, but its shape is an individual feature of the woman and does not change even with significant correction of the figure. An interesting fact is that about 80% of women have different sizes of right and left breasts. The left breast is usually slightly larger than the right. In general, according to statistics, 3 out of 4 women are dissatisfied with the shape and size of their breasts, which leads to complexes, sexual constraint and dissatisfaction.
Push up bras are bad for your breasts
Often, women who are faced with this problem believe that their bust is simply not yet fully formed and will become rounder over time. However, the fact is that the development of tubular breasts is completed during puberty, and after that it does not round out either with weight fluctuations or with breastfeeding.
Modern medicine has not yet fully elucidated the reasons for this deformation, but it is already known that the cone-shaped shape can be both a consequence of genetic characteristics and can be caused by external factors.
One of these factors can be considered wearing underwear with push-up at a young age. The fact is that such bras compress and lift the bust, which interferes with proper metabolism. As a result, over time, the lower part of the mammary glands cannot develop as expected. If sagging (ptosis) of the breast begins due to the influence of gravity, and due to the underdeveloped lower lobe of the breast there is no necessary support, then the nipple along with the areola moves away from the center of the chest and falls under the fold of the bust. This is how the cone shape is formed.
Therefore, young girls should pay a lot of attention to the correct selection of bras, especially during puberty. Suitable models should be evenly rounded inside, thereby promoting the correct formation of the bust.
Types of female breasts by shape
In fact, the issue of classifying female breast shapes is quite multifaceted. Some experts distinguish 7 types of breasts, comparing each individual shape with fruits and vegetables. Others favor a more detailed division that covers up to 30 different shapes and types. The most correct, in our opinion, is the following classification of a woman’s mammary glands by shape:
- Bell shaped chest
. This form is characterized by a slightly narrowed base and expansion of the gland towards the lower part of the chest. This type is very common among women. At the same time, the main problem of owners of this breast shape is its heaviness downwards, which leads to relatively rapid sagging of the tissue.
- Round breasts or "Apples"
. This type is also common and is considered quite attractive to men. At the same time, the name of this form is quite arbitrary, since in fact such a mammary gland still has a shape more close to teardrop-shaped. Those with round breasts are less likely to experience breast sagging and drooping due to the even distribution of fatty tissue.
- Lemon shaped chest
. Breasts of this shape are quite uniform in fullness, but the nipples are often multi-directional, which can be perceived by the woman herself as both an attractive feature and an aesthetic defect.
- Pancake breast shape
. Such breasts, even with impressive sizes, have a small volume and a round shape. As a result, the mammary glands seem to lie on the chest wall, which in most cases does not suit the owner herself.
- Bottle shaped breasts
. This type is a somewhat elongated mammary gland with an evenly distributed volume. Such breasts, even with ideal care, often look somewhat saggy due to their anatomical features. Another common bottleneck breast problem is a large gap between the glands. Breasts of any shape can be wide apart. A bust is considered such if three fingers can be freely placed between the glands.
- Breast shape “Teapots” or “Fox nose”
. Experts used these diminutive terms to describe slightly upturned breasts with high nipples. This type is quite attractive and is often the choice of women undergoing breast contour correction procedures.
- Chest "Bee Stings"
. This unpleasant phrase for a woman refers to a poorly defined breast shape. Such mammary glands are usually small in size, and are somewhat similar to male breasts.
In fact, in addition to those listed above, you can
Tubularity is a common deformity
A bust shape other than round can be caused by various circumstances. One common type of deformity is tubularity, which visually appears as cone-shaped breasts, usually with swollen nipples and prominent areolas that look like two balls stacked on top of each other. In some women, the mammary glands vary greatly in size, and in some cases, the fair sex is bothered by the lack of cleavage due to the fact that the breasts are placed at a great distance from each other.
Tubular mammary glands are not often discussed, but many patients with this feature turn to plastic surgeons. The fact is that this problem occurs much more often than is commonly thought. At the same time, experts note that in recent years the number of women with this feature has increased sharply.

What does the ideal female breast shape look like?
Many women ask the logical question of which breasts men like best. Of course, there is no single answer to this question, because each representative of the stronger sex has his own preferences and tastes. However, after conducting a survey of a large group of men of different ages, scientists came to the conclusion that most of them are inclined towards breasts of the following characteristics:
- The breasts should have a regular round or teardrop shape;
- The diameter of the nipple halo should be no less than 3.5 and no more than 4.5 cm;
- Men considered the ideal breast size to be 2-3 (chest that fits in a man's palm);
- The nipples are directed upward and “look” slightly to the sides.
In addition to the fact that female breasts are a symbol of the beauty of the figure, they are also strongly associated with a woman’s sexuality. Scientists claim that women with large breasts are more relaxed and sensual in intimate relationships. This is primarily due to psychological factors, because the owner of a beautifully shaped breast is self-confident and not complex.
The desire to become the owner of ideal breasts is quite natural and in our time is easily achievable. Modern plastic surgery has developed and implemented a fairly safe method of performing surgery to increase the size and correct the shape of the breast. This procedure was called mammoplasty and gave millions of women around the world self-confidence and the admiration of others. In our clinic, mammoplasty is performed daily, which has allowed our specialists to gain extensive practical experience and master the latest methods of breast correction for women. Give yourself beauty and youth, leaving complexes and uncertainty in the past!

Woman's breast sizes
One of the most exciting topics is the size of women's breasts. They can be both small and quite impressive. At the same time, in different historical periods, both the first and second options were considered ideal. However, according to most women, medium-sized breasts are considered ideal: they do not cause inconvenience to their owner and do not lead to difficulties in choosing underwear. But for women who have non-standard dimensions, in addition to the size, it is worth taking into account the type of female breast, since the comfort of wearing a bra will largely depend on this.
How to determine what breast size
The size of a woman's breasts is determined based on two main parameters: the width of the chest and the volume of the breast itself. However, not all women know how to find out the size of their mammary glands. The sizing charts of most underwear manufacturers are based on calculating the difference between the first and second indicators.
Let's look at the rules for determining your bust size and choosing underwear that fits your parameters perfectly.
- Measurement of bust volume is carried out at the most protruding points in a standing position, with arms down. It is advisable to wear a bra that fits well without squeezing your bust.
- The second parameter by which the female mammary gland is measured is the volume of the chest. Its meaning is important so that the bra does not squeeze the body and does not create discomfort when worn. The measurement is also taken in a standing position, directly under the bust.
- After receiving two values, you need to subtract the second from the first, and then find this number in the table. This is the bra size that is right for you.
An example of determining bust sizes
Let's look at a simple example of how to choose the right underwear size, depending on what breast parameters a woman has.
When measuring the volume of the bust with a centimeter tape, it was found that this figure was 96 centimeters. Measuring the volume under the chest showed a value of 80 centimeters. Subtract 80 from 96, we get the number 16. Next, we look at the table of parameters. The number 16 corresponds to the column “15-17 centimeters”, respectively, the girl who performed these measurements has a 3rd breast size (C).
Example of interchangeability of bra sizes
It often happens that with the correct calculations, a bra of the right size does not fit as desired. This is a completely normal phenomenon, because, as we have already found out, women can have different types of breasts. Therefore, with non-standard parameters, it is important to know that there are interchangeable sizes (when one of them is very close in value to the other). This leaves some room for experimentation and selection of the perfect underwear. Possible examples of interchangeability of bra sizes are presented in the table below.
By the way, this table will also be useful for those whose size was unexpectedly not available in the store. Knowing about their possible interchangeability, it is easy to choose the underwear you like with the required parameters.
How to choose the right underwear depending on your bust shape
Due to the fact that the shapes of women's breasts are completely different, it is important to take this factor into account when choosing underwear. For example, for those with small volumes, the best choice would be a bra with foam cups. But for women whom nature has endowed with a full bust, it is better to stop at purchasing underwear that has a T-shape. It is also ideal for low-slung breasts, as this model lifts the bust well. If you think that your breasts are not round enough (for example, cone-shaped), underwear with horizontal seams will help correct this problem. A bra with vertical or diagonal seams on the cups will help to hide the imperfections of a close-fitting bust.
So, the female breast is a unique part of the body, as can be judged by numerous photos, as well as more than one name that was invented to classify the shape of the mammary glands. With the right selection of underwear, as well as maintaining the body in good physical condition, you can achieve its ideal appearance, striking others with your beautiful dignity.

Types of mammary gland structure
In women, the structure of the breast changes at different periods of life, sometimes the anatomy is influenced by the individual characteristics of the body. There are many classifications, we will note the gradation by type of fabric:
- Glandular type - occurs in young women and is considered a normal variant. Adipose tissue is present, but its proportion is small.
- The fat type of structure is typical for overweight women. It also occurs with a normal physique, when after 35-40 years the processes of reverse development begin in the chest and the glandular tissue is replaced by adipose tissue.
- Mixed type - intermediate. Characterized by an equal ratio of adipose and glandular tissue.
Can nipples be unusual?4
In some films and TV series you can come across a moment when one of the characters has a third nipple. Almost everyone perceives this as a joke, but that’s not the case - nature may not be like that.
In fact, the third nipple does not interfere with its owner in any way - if you forget about the aesthetic side of the issue. Moreover, in some recorded cases of a similar pathology in women, the third nipple even secreted milk and fully functioned for breastfeeding the child. In the modern world, plastic surgeons work real miracles, so if you suddenly had to face a similar problem, it can be solved surgically.
Pathologies of the mammary glands
If hormonal imbalances or abnormalities in physiology occur in the body, local diseases may develop. We list the pathologies in descending order of frequency of occurrence:
- mastopathy – the appearance of lumps in the breast;
- cancer - usually occurs as a complication from a previous disease;
- mastitis – inflammation in the breast tissue due to congestion;
- infections - often bacterial or fungal in nature.
It is very important to prevent the listed pathologies - these are regular examinations and palpation of the breast. Timely delivery and breastfeeding play an important role. You should also choose a comfortable bra made from natural materials.
Care and preservation of breast shape
Whatever the shape and parameters of the bust, timely care and properly selected underwear can keep it in great shape.
Proper care is as follows:
- Cleansing the breast skin with water and soft gel products, gentle peeling,
- Wearing the right and comfortable bra,
- Performing exercises to strengthen the chest muscle tissue,
- Using creams that improve skin condition
- Carrying out a massage,
- Protecting breast skin from ultraviolet rays with special means,
- Posture and weight control.
Follow these simple rules to maintain and maintain beautiful and firm shape.
Types of nipples
The female breast is a unique organ created by nature to produce milk and feed it to babies. The nipple is precisely responsible for where the accumulated milk will come out. The nipple is surrounded by an areola, which ranges in color from light pink to dark brown. Nipple shapes are: small, medium, large.
There are five types of female nipples based on the degree of protuberance:
- Normal nipple. The nipple protrudes significantly from the areola even without stimulation. If you use the latter, then it increases and becomes hard.
- Prominent nipple. The appearance of the nipple appears slightly swollen due to the fact that the areola around it is slightly raised. When stimulation is applied, the size of the nipple increases.
- Inverted nipple. Almost all the time the nipple is inside the areola, but when aroused it can become noticeable.
- Flat nipple. It practically does not protrude from the areola and sometimes may not respond to stimulation.
- One-sided nipple. Another name is different nipples, when one nipple is convex and the other is not.
