Non-surgical eyelid blepharoplasty using the Plasma Pencil device.

Non-surgical eyelid blepharoplasty using the Plasma Pencil plasma device is becoming increasingly popular due to its high efficiency, low cost of the procedure and short rehabilitation period.

The plasma coagulation method is based on the property of human skin to significantly reduce its surface at the ablation points. Plasma ablation point is a microscopic damage to tissue, a kind of controlled burn, which, when tissue is regenerated, leads to improved skin condition, improved turgor and a reduction in its area.

The plasma coagulation method is comparable in its effectiveness to expensive CO2 laser exposure, but has a number of advantages.

  1. Firstly, it is less invasive compared to CO2 laser and has a pronounced result of tightening and rejuvenating the skin in the affected areas.
  2. Secondly, it is possible to treat a small area, literally from one millimeter, which is impossible when exposed to a CO2 laser, since it processes large surfaces simultaneously, approximately 1 square cm of skin area. This allows patients not to experience discomfort and not to interrupt social activity during the recovery period.
  3. Thirdly, the doctor treats only those surfaces that are necessary to obtain the maximum result. CO2 laser devices often capture those areas of the skin that are not intended to be affected.
  4. Fourthly, the rehabilitation period, as a rule, when exposed to plasma coagulation, is almost two times shorter than when working on a CO2 laser device.
  5. And fifth, the cost of the procedure performed on the Plasma Pencil device is practically zero, since there are practically no consumables and an unlimited number of flashes. The only consumables used are a disposable sterile needle costing 100 rubles, an antiseptic and an anesthetic. And CO2 laser devices have a high cost and a limited number of flashes, after which an expensive replacement of the emitter is required.

Plasma rejuvenation was developed from the very beginning as an alternative to laser rejuvenation, since laser cannot be used on all skin phototypes. A histological study was carried out immediately after the procedure of plasma removal of acne scars and laser resurfacing in patients with phototypes 3 and 4.

Photo on the left is the effect of plasma. Photo on the right is laser exposure.

As we can see from the image, the laser action penetrates deeper, the fractions are more uniform than those of plasma. But it was precisely because of the greater depth of exposure that side effects in the form of post-inflammatory pigmentation arose to a greater extent. 33 people took part in the study. The results showed that the depth of damage in the case of plasma exposure was in the range of 120–150 μm, and its diameter was 150–180 μm. The fractional CO2 laser created lesions with a depth of 300–400 µm and a diameter of 100–120 µm. The thermal damage zone around the ablation point was wider in the case of plasma exposure.

Both methods significantly and equally reduced the severity of post-acne scars - from 51.1 ± 14.2 to 22.3 ± 8.6 in the case of plasma (56.4% improvement) and from 48.8 ± 15.1 to 19.9 ± 7.9 for CO2 laser (59.2% improvement) on the ECCA scale. At the same time, in response to laser exposure, 12 people (36.4%) developed post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and no such complications were recorded from plasma treatment.

Thus, low-energy plasma helps fight hyperpigmentation, significantly evens out the texture and color of the skin and, in fact, can be somewhat equivalent to non-ablative lasers. High-energy plasma also helps fight more serious defects, such as wrinkles, decreased skin turgor, as well as stretch marks, post-acne scars, etc.

ATTENTION!!! Plasma devices are not only an effective means of combating the above-mentioned skin defects, but also require a highly qualified specialist performing the procedure. Unscrupulous companies have appeared on the Internet, selling plasma devices of dubious quality certified as devices for home use. The management of these companies claims that you don’t even need to have a medical education to perform plasma blepharoplasty or remove tumors. This, let’s not be afraid of this word, is a criminal statement that can lead to serious consequences for the patient, scars, changes in skin texture, burns, scars and other side effects, including oncology. Any physician knows that removal of tumors is possible only if they are benign. But in order to be sure of this, it is necessary to undergo a histological examination. But unscrupulous sellers, in order to obtain maximum profit, for an additional fee, conduct training for people who have nothing to do with medicine, issuing a certificate that supposedly gives the right to provide services for non-surgical blepharoplasty, etc. The Internet has already been flooded with photos of patients’ disfigured eyelids, procedures which were conducted by precisely those “specialists” who completed these dubious courses.

When providing services, remember that a plasma current device is a serious instrument that requires a specialist to have deep knowledge of anatomy and professional skills.

The essence of Plasma BT technology

It is known from physics that substances can exist in three states: solid, liquid and gaseous. Every substance is made up of atoms and molecules. Plasma is considered the fourth state of matter. When exposed to excess energy, the usual state of matter is destroyed. Plasma consists of radicals, charged substances, ions, electrons, ozone and neutral atoms.

Plasma energy began to be actively used in the 60s of the last century. At this time, the first plasma energy apparatus was created. The Plasma BT device differs from its predecessors in its unique capabilities and absolute safety.

Plasma BT:

  • Plasma energy;
  • Power setting;
  • Extreme precision;
  • High efficiency;
  • Control of impact depth;
  • High security.

Plasma BT technology uses an ionization method, resulting in the formation of plasma. Charged particles affect problem areas without heating the tissue around the problem areas.

The needle nozzle allows you to act in the finest possible way. Using the nozzle, a thin mesh is applied to create a delicate burn on the surface of the eyelid skin. Small scales appear on the skin, which disappear on their own after a few days.

For non-surgical blepharoplasty, only disposable sterile needle tips are used.

Memo to the patient.

  1. Before starting the procedure, warn the patient that microscopic burns will occur in areas exposed to coagulation plasma. This will cause discomfort on the skin, including redness, itching, burning and swelling of the eyelid. All these side effects are inevitable and temporary and will disappear within 3-5 days.
  2. To relieve unpleasant symptoms, it is recommended to use dry cold or ice, previously placed in a plastic bag and wrapped in a napkin.
  3. During the first two to three days, the patient should not wash his face, go to the pool, sauna or apply makeup until dry crusts form and spontaneously fall off.
  4. During the entire recovery period, the patient must carefully wipe the damaged skin with an alcohol-free antiseptic and apply regenerating creams or ointments to the affected areas several times a day to quickly eliminate the consequences of the burn.
  5. In no case should you forcefully remove the crusts that have formed; this can cause the formation of small scars and prolong the rehabilitation period.
  6. After the crusts fall off on their own, apply a healing ointment to the skin for a few more days until the skin regains its natural color. This may take approximately a month.
  7. It is recommended to wash your face with soap and apply makeup when the scabs have completely fallen off.
  8. For a month, do not visit the solarium, and when going outside, use sunscreen with a high protection factor and, if necessary, sunglasses.
  9. The skin density will decrease as the tissue heals and for about another 3 months.
  10. In older patients with pronounced ptosis, repeat procedures are possible 2-3 weeks after complete healing. As a rule, for a pronounced eyelid lift it is necessary to undergo a course of 1 to 4 procedures. The tightening effect is noticeable already in the first week after the procedure.

Possibilities of non-surgical blepharoplasty Plasma Pen

The purpose of the “fountain pen” is non-surgical blepharoplasty, reduction of wrinkles, stretch marks (stretch marks) and scars, removal of age spots, unsuccessful tattoos, post-acne marks, moles and warts. It can get rid of rosacea - spider veins on the skin - in one go. But these devices are especially effective when it is necessary to tighten thin flaps of skin. That is why Plasma Pen is most often used in the area around the eyes. Due to its ease of use, with the help of Plasma Pen, a cosmetologist can treat the skin with fantastic precision, dosing the effect. Therefore, even delicate eyelid skin can be safely treated with such a device.

From a physical point of view, Plasma Pen is similar to a fractional CO2 laser - perhaps the most effective device for smoothing the skin and getting rid of scars and scars. The thinnest plasma beam affects micro areas of the skin, causing a coagulation effect - the tissues are compressed, and the skin in the treated area is renewed and tightened due to increased collagen production.

Essentially, we are talking about a burn, but a very, very small one. Using a plasma pen, you can target even the finest wrinkles, and it will be absolutely safe for surrounding tissues, even in such a sensitive place as the skin around the eyes.

Depending on the severity of the problem, one to two procedures may be required. However, in any case, the effect will be noticeable after the first one.

Pros and cons of non-surgical blepharoplasty Plasma Pen

The main advantage of the Plasma Pen is low trauma and rapid recovery after the procedure with an effectiveness comparable to much more “armor-piercing” devices. Plasma pens are not only a non-surgical, but even a non-contact method: a potential difference is formed between the tip of the needle and the surface of the skin, but only the plasma, not the needle, touches the skin itself. Even so, the needles used are disposable and, of course, sterile. This means that the risk of infection during the procedure is reduced to almost zero. The same applies to allergic reactions. It is important that, unlike any injections, Plasma Pen will not leave even small bruises on the skin.

The recovery period after correction under Plasma Pen is very short - on average 7-10 days (after CO2 laser, for comparison, it can be up to three weeks). You can dose the effect on the skin in any way - be it by time, or by area of treatment - and generally use an as individual approach as you like.

The main disadvantage is the rather high influence of the human factor on the final result. Most likely, thanks to the ease of use of the Plasma Pen, very soon every second cosmetologist, including those from home workers, will offer non-surgical blepharoplasty services using this small device. Not every one of them will be professional enough to competently use the new technology, and some will also bring cheap “analogues” of high-quality pens from Chinese sites - which means the number of dissatisfied clients will increase. Please do not add to their number! Use the services of only professional cosmetologists whom you can trust, be sure to attend preliminary consultations in beauty salons and ask all your questions. Do not neglect the list of contraindications, treat your health and beauty with the utmost care!

Protocol for the procedure of plasma, non-surgical blepharoplasty using the Plasma Pencil device.

  1. Clean the patient's skin of makeup and other contaminants.
  2. Treat your skin with an antiseptic.
  3. Apply anesthetic under an occlusive dressing to the areas of intended impact for 15-20 minutes. The procedure does not cause severe discomfort. Some patients tolerate this procedure well even without anesthesia.
  4. After 15-20 minutes, remove excess anesthetic and begin treating the targeted areas of skin.
  5. With lightning-fast movements, bring the electrode close to the skin in short movements until a plasma discharge occurs. Do not hold the needle or tip near the skin, as this may cause deep burns . Long-term exposure to one point is possible only with such manipulations when it is necessary to remove a benign neoplasm, papilloma, wart or nevus.
  6. When completely lifting the eyelid, treat its entire surface with point movements and short touches. The more pronounced the wrinkles and stretched skin, the closer the ablation points should be to each other, approximately a millimeter apart (see photo 1).

  7. When eliminating deep wrinkles, the ablation points are located as close as possible to the fold. Ablation points are located on both sides of the wrinkle at a distance of approximately 1 mm from each other. In cases of very deep wrinkles, exposure directly into the fold is acceptable. To do this, straighten the skin fold during treatment and propagate the wrinkle along its entire depth (photo 2).
  8. Both the upper movable and fixed eyelid and the lower eyelid are subject to treatment, depending on the desired result and indications
  9. In one procedure, you can treat the entire required area, or a small part of it, if the patient is unable to reduce his social activity.
  10. At the end of the procedure, treat the treatment surface again with an alcohol-free antiseptic and apply a healing cream or ointment, such as Panthenol or Solcoseryl, to the affected area. You can also treat the skin with Baniocin.

Technique for removing pedunculated formations (papillomas, candylomas).

Pedicled formations, such as papillomas and candylomas, must be removed by placing a needle under the base of the tumor. The protruding part of the neoplasm is grabbed with tweezers and slightly lifted upward. In the place where the tumor grows from the skin, in the narrowest part of the leg, we treat the isthmus with a plasma beam, completely cutting the tissue. We first set the power to 70% (4-5). Depending on the thickness of the isthmus, the power can be increased to 80-90% (5-6). After removal, lubricate the resulting crust with a 5% solution of potassium permanganate, 6% hydrogen peroxide or chlorhexidine.

Removal of flat formations with plasma.

Removal of flat tumors is carried out layer by layer.

The power is preliminarily set to 10-20% (1-2) and with a cone-shaped tip or needle we act on the formations until healthy tissue appears. Each layer is carefully removed with a sterile cotton swab moistened with a 5% solution of potassium permanganate, 6% hydrogen peroxide or chlorhexidine. We process the neoplasms until the tissues are charred, destroying the tumor tissues layer by layer until they reach a smooth surface with adjacent skin. We strictly ensure that no excess fabric remains and that a fabric defect (hole) does not form during work. We monitor the tip so that there is no sticking of destroyed tissue. Remove the adhering tissue with tweezers.

Technique for removing warts with plasma current.

Removal of warts, as well as flat formations, is carried out layer by layer, but much deeper, after completely destroying the roots of the wart, which inevitably leads to the formation of a tissue defect (pit), about which the patient must be warned. The cosmetologist's task is to remove the root of the wart. Otherwise, it may develop again.

Plasma coagulation of vascular formations (rosacea).

Coagulation of vascular formations (telangiectasia, rosacea) is carried out with a needle or a cone-shaped electrode. Power is set to 70-90% (4-6). We instantly contact the electrode with the surface of the dilated vessel using point movements. We begin the procedure from the periphery to the center of the dilated vessel, at intervals of 2-3 mm along the course of the vessel until it completely disappears.

In case of increased pain sensitivity, local anesthesia is performed when removing warts.

On the face and other open parts of the body, formations no larger than 0.7 mm are removed. to avoid cosmetic defects after plasma coagulation (scars, light spots). Formations larger than 0.7 mm. are removed surgically.

Cone-shaped attachments can be reused after disinfection and sterilization in the oven. The attachments are sterilized in the same way as a medical instrument, in compliance with all rules and regulations. The needles are disposable and cannot be sterilized.

Indications for plasma coagulation:

papillomas, genital warts, warts, nevi, complicated acne, hemangiomas, senile keratomas, calluses, scars, atheromas, molluscum contagiosum, tattoos.

Contraindications:

acute cardiovascular diseases, the presence of a pacemaker, cancer, a tendency to form colloidal scars, blood clotting disorders, hyperthermia, intolerance to electric current and anesthetics.

Eyelid surgery without plasma surgery (non-surgical plasma blepharoplasty)

The benefits of plasma energy have begun to be used to perform eyelid surgery without incisions. The results of plasma blepharoplasty are comparable to those after conventional scalpel surgery.

However, after using plasma:

  • no marks or scars are left,
  • the skin of the eyelids is tightened,
  • bags under the eyes are eliminated,
  • the corner of the eyelid rises and
  • The recovery period is short and painless.

Rice. 4. Elimination of sagging and sagging skin with plasma

What is Plexr?

Plexr is a device that allows you to remove excess skin on various parts of the body using plasma.

The impact on the skin occurs through thin disposable tips, which ensures high precision of the intervention. The heat generated as a result of the action of plasma leads to sublimation of skin cells.

During the treatment process, plasma is applied to the skin of a certain area, which causes reduction and tightening of loose skin.

For optimal results, 3-4 sessions are usually required, spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
