Silicone lips: could this DuckTale have a happy ending?

What is silicone

Silicone is a chemical compound of oxygen and silicon. It is synthesized by humans and does not occur in nature.

Silicone has very interesting properties, which have captivated cosmetologists:

  • it does not decompose and tolerates even temperature influences well;
  • does not react chemically with other substances.

Therefore, if you introduce silicone into your lips, it remains there in the volume and form in which it was introduced. It does not enter into any reactions with body tissues, does not change or dissolve. Once you pump up your lips with silicone, you’ll be beautiful for life. Well, isn't it a dream?

And so, together with the TV series “Baywatch,” beautiful silicone lips become a brand, fill the screen and turn into an attribute of a successful and beautiful woman.

Where did the disproportionately huge, unnaturally shaped and deformed lips that inspire horror come from?

What girls with silicone lips didn’t know before the gel injection

Do you still believe that you can make beautiful silicone lips without compromising your appearance? This is exactly the case when you need to change your faith.

Below are the facts on the basis of which the use of silicone gels was banned in the United States in 1992.

  • silicone does not dissolve
    .

    On the one hand, this is a plus. On the other hand, imagine that an unpleasant neighbor has settled in your dacha. What will you do? Build a solid fence!

    This is exactly what our body does. It protects itself from the uninvited “stranger” and builds capsules of connective tissue around the gel. In other words, it forms internal scars. The scars grow year after year, which is why silicone-pumped lips become even larger over time.

    . And the scarring process cannot be stopped or controlled;

  • scars not only “swell” already large lips. Lips become less sensitive and deformed, losing their natural shape and softness. Did you dream of such a result when you injected the gel?
  • They are trying to correct lip deformation with new injections. But once you start using silicone, you will have to use only it for further correction.
  • the silicone migrates beyond the lips, and after about 3 years after insertion, everything ends in the famous “duck mouth”. But it can be worse: there are cases where silicone has moved to the area of the eyebrows, eyes and cheeks;
  • silicone is a foreign substance, and in about 3 out of 10 people the body begins to reject it
    . Rejection is manifested by inflammation, necrosis of soft tissues, soreness and hypersensitivity of the lips. The risk of silicone rejection is especially high in smokers.

    Severe inflammation will have to be relieved with hormonal drugs, and to avoid it in the future, the silicone will have to be removed surgically. The operation of removing the gel is complex, and finding a surgeon will not be easy.

  • silicone is difficult to remove completely
    : some of it will still remain inside.

Therefore, before injecting silicone into your lips, weigh the pros and cons again and ultimately do a safe lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid gel or lip lipofilling.

Lipofilling

This method involves injecting the client's own fat into the lips. In simpler terms, material is taken from one place and transplanted to another, since a person’s own fat is best suited to it.

This procedure should be performed by a surgeon with the best qualifications, since the operation itself is quite complex and delicate. And the advantage is that you will not have rejection, allergies and other side effects, since something foreign is not introduced into the body, but only your own material.

Fat is removed using a certain instrument that vaguely resembles a syringe. After taking the fat, it should be cleared of blood and tissue fibers, and then it is injected into the lips. Before the operation, discuss the desired result with the doctor. The operation is performed under local anesthesia.

Pain is felt only with anesthesia. The patient will feel the remaining actions as simple touches. When lipofilling, the “fan” method is used, i.e. fat is injected in small drops and evenly.

At the moment, lipofilling as a lip augmentation procedure is not particularly popular. With local anesthesia, fat cells do not take root very well. But after surgeons began to use general anesthesia, it became impossible to apply even distribution of fat over all lips.

If the cells do not take root, they die. For this reason, doctors often pump more fat than necessary. Because of this, it can be quite difficult to predict what the shape of the lips will be. And due to the fact that after the procedure the lips swell for a long time, this option of lip augmentation has finally moved into the background.

Why is lip augmentation with silicone still done?

Firstly

, if you are not a medical specialist, you believe the words of a specialist. And when a cosmetologist says that silicone is “safe and forever,” you mentally calculate how much you can save over a few years and make a choice in favor of silicone.

Yes, the price of silicone injections is lower. But the issue of price should not be decisive. In this case, the stingy will pay both three and four times! In this case, you can lose not only money, but also beauty.

Secondly

, silicone is often introduced not as a result of a deliberate decision, but out of ignorance.

Expert comment:

“Under no circumstances have your lips done by a home-based cosmetologist. And if you do decide, save the individual number from the packaging of the drug that was injected into your lips. This way you will know exactly what was injected into you, when, and in what volume.

There is no need to pretend to be a fool: “Oh, I trust you, do what you think is beautiful!” You need to delve into the process. Take responsibility for your life - then you will not have any complications.”

Andrey Iskornev, plastic surgeon.

It is much safer and more effective to enlarge lips using gels based on hyaluronic acid: such a gel is well accepted by the body and is completely absorbed

within a year, after which the procedure can be repeated.

Lip augmentation: who needs it?

The most common reasons for carrying out such a procedure:

  • the desire to follow fashion trends (today the trend is full, plump lips, which add sensuality and attractiveness to the image);
  • natural imperfections of shape, contour, the presence of asymmetry, disproportions relative to other facial features;
  • age-related changes (over the years, lips lose their volume, shape, become pale and thin, with the help of an enlargement procedure they will become the same as they were in your youth).

Work on mistakes

What to do if you have already pumped up your lips with silicone

before knowing about the possible consequences? There are two options.

Option 1

. Nothing! But this is only if you are satisfied with the appearance, size and “feeling” of your lips.

Expert comment:

“To avoid serious problems, it is necessary to visit a plastic surgeon once every six months, who will be able to promptly detect and eliminate any changes in the lips at the initial stage.

Unfortunately, no one is immune from mistakes. Many Russian and Hollywood celebrities became interested in self-improvement and suffered from the unpredictability of silicone: singer Alexa, Masha Malinovskaya, Lisa Rinna, Jessica Simpson, Jocelyn Wildenstein and others. Needless to say, they have all already gotten rid of the silicone in their lips in order to finally regain the appearance of a lady.”

Maxim Vasiliev, plastic surgeon.

Option 2

. If the silicone becomes aggressive, becomes inflamed, or greatly changes the proportions of the lips, consider removing it. However, far-sighted people choose this method without waiting for possible complications.

Expert comment:

“Until recently, it was believed that it was impossible to remove silicone from the lips. In fact, modern technologies in the field of plastic surgery make it possible to extract the maximum amount of silicone, eliminate scar tissue, correct the shape of the lips, make them proportional and natural. At Platinental we have learned to perform all these stages in one procedure.

This operation is performed from the mouth, does not leave visible scars and does not require a long period of rehabilitation - the lips heal in about a week, and already on the fifth day you can appear on the street

.

Removing silicone from lips is a jeweler's job. And the specialists who perform this operation in Russia can be counted on the fingers of one hand.”

Botox

An alternative to lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid is Botox injection. By the way, this drug for the most part does not enlarge the lips, but smoothes out small wrinkles in the lip area. Botulinum toxin causes paralysis of the muscles into which it is injected. From such an operation the mouth will be completely immobilized.

For this reason, it is not used for lip augmentation, but for aesthetic medicine purposes.

With its help, you can correct the shape of your lips: for example, raise the corners or eliminate asymmetry. The opinion about lip augmentation with this drug is wrong.

Note that there are operations that include the use of both Botox and hyaluronic acid. But only hyaluronic acid will increase the volume, and Botox will correct the shape. Such operations do not cause pain at all.

There are two options for administering the drug:

  1. into the circuit;
  2. cent lips

In order to administer Botox, insulin syringes with fairly thin needles are used. This is the key to a painless injection.

We also note that the drug is administered shallowly, which determines the time of the procedure. The number of input points can vary from 4 to 6. The session takes about half an hour, sometimes less.

Not only women, but also men who are dissatisfied with the shape of their lips or the wrinkles around them turn to the services of a cosmetologist.
