Clinic "Omega Clinic" Saratov
Please tell us about how you chose your profession.
My mother is a pediatrician. Previously, Saturdays were working days, and kindergartens were not open. Often on Saturdays I went with my mother to her work. Accordingly, at home she played doctor and treated dolls. When the time came to decide on a career choice, I had no doubts. I only wanted to be a doctor, although my mother really discouraged me.
Do you have a personal recipe for success? Tell us about it.
Don't stop there. Set yourself a goal and move towards it. While this movement is underway, a person develops both as an individual and as a specialist.
What could you tell about yourself outside of your profession - interesting facts or actions?
Born, studied, got married... I feel awkward answering this question, but I will state the facts: I graduated from school with a gold medal, and graduated from college with honors. She graduated from a choreographic studio, and during her school years she danced in the fairly well-known ensemble “Zorenka” (Penza). I have a golden husband who has put up with me and my endless irregular work days, night calls from patients for many years... A woman cannot help but talk and be proud of her children - I have three sons. I love to travel, all types of active recreation (cross-country and mountain skiing, kayaking, cycling...), tourism.
Let's imagine that you were able to use a time machine. What moment would you like to change in your life?
From a professional point of view, I would go back to my student years and devote more time to practical skills (I would work more with my hands, I would master more manipulations in different areas of medicine. In those days you could go on duty and study). This gives confidence to the doctor and broadens his horizons in medicine. And I would just go back to those young, I can’t say carefree, years. There is nostalgia. Wonderful student friends with whom we are still friends. Unfortunately, many were scattered across different cities. I wouldn't change anything, let it stay as it is.
Tell me, what is medicine for you? How do you perceive it?
For me, as a doctor, medicine is helping and treating the patient. Moreover, the treatment should not be more severe than the disease. There are other aspects, but, in my understanding, this is healthcare.
What would be your first three decisions if you woke up tomorrow as the Minister of Health?
This is a very difficult question. All decisions must also have financial support, human resources... What I definitely did was to allow co-financing when receiving medical services under the compulsory medical insurance policy. Paid medicine currently occupies a significant place in healthcare. A person should have the right to choose where to receive medical care: free of charge in a clinic at his place of residence or on a paid basis. If it would be possible to use a compulsory medical insurance policy + additional payment in a paid clinic (since compulsory medical insurance tariffs are lower), then that would be great. Firstly, there would be healthier competition and medicine in the broad sense of the word would only benefit from this, the quality of medical services provided would improve, and secondly, the cost of services would decrease for people and, accordingly, the availability of medical care would increase, the opportunity to choose would appear clinics. Secondly, the learning process in medical universities. Nowadays students practically do not know how to work with their hands. True, they are now setting up simulation centers where they teach students certain skills. But this is not enough. More practice is needed. From my point of view, if the internship was cancelled, then it is necessary to introduce a mentoring program, where experienced doctors will supervise and advise young specialists. Third, make medical care accessible. Return doctors or at least paramedics to the villages, fill vacancies in the cities. To achieve this, it is necessary to establish decent salaries and wages for medical workers. A local doctor should be interested in his patients, in examining them, and in consulting with specialized specialists. Now, unfortunately, the disease is often treated according to the standard of medical care. It helped, it didn’t help, the main thing is that the standard was met... It is the patient who needs to be treated, not the disease. That's how I was taught.
What is a healthy lifestyle in your understanding and do you actually adhere to it?
Probably, like for most people, this means a healthy diet, physical activity, regular preventive medical examinations, body weight control, and the absence of bad habits (smoking, alcohol). Nowadays, if I may say so, there is a fashion for a healthy lifestyle, but sports have always been present in my family and life. My dad is a master of sports in sambo, so since childhood I had morning exercises, skiing, swimming... Now I also try to walk 10,000 steps a day, conduct 3 training sessions a week, eat right... With morning exercises, however, it doesn’t always work out, but to be honest , it rarely works. And, probably, like many doctors, it is difficult with regular preventive examinations. We regularly undergo a periodic examination once a year with a minimum laboratory examination at work. Although I admit that, given my age, it is necessary to approach this issue more seriously.
Let's move on to the medical institution that you run. What, from your point of view, is its key difference from others?
I was lucky enough to work in a unique medical institution. We have a rather narrow field - phlebology and proctology, but all modern methods of treatment and examination are collected for these positions. Our doctors are trained both in Russia and abroad. So we are introducing all new techniques into our work. Within the walls of our clinic we are also constantly engaged in scientific work (which is not often found in private clinics). Despite the fact that we are a highly specialized medical institution, we try to treat the patient, not the disease. We try to help the patient, if necessary, consult with a therapist, gynecologist, orthopedist..., recommend an examination plan, a treatment plan, refer to other medical institutions, including leading clinics in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and, if possible, conduct correspondence consultations.
I would like to ask what new things have been introduced into the work of the institution during your work?
The fact is that I have been with Omega Clinic LLC since its birth, from the first time I received a license. Accordingly, everything we are doing now happened during my work.
What indicators, from your point of view, most clearly characterize the medical institution that you manage?
The number of requests from people (relatives, friends, neighbors) to whom we were recommended by our former and current patients. Also, patient reviews on the Internet are people’s true opinions.
What diagnostic or treatment methods in your medical institution would you consider unique?
Our clinic uses proprietary methods that we have patented.
What prospects do you see for the further development of the institution in modern conditions?
In relation to our clinic, this is an expansion of the list of medical services so that we can help the patient in any matter, so that they do not have to be sent to other clinics. I think telemedicine will develop widely. This is convenient for the patient in the first place - there is no need to spend money and time on travel to the clinic, you can consult in any city in the country.
And at the end of our conversation, what would you like to wish the readers?
As a doctor, plus the difficult conditions associated with the COVID pandemic, of course I wish the readers health. And if a health problem does occur, so that you can cope with the disease. Optimism. More joyful moments in the life of every person.
