Breast augmentation with polyurethane implants

Modern endoprostheses (breast implants) are complex high-tech products that are subject to very high demands.

Breast implants must be:

  • Very durable and airtight,
  • Durable,
  • Biocompatible,
  • Resistant to deformation and displacement.

The world's best manufacturers (Mentor, Silimed, Eurosilicon and some others) guarantee strict compliance with all these requirements. The implants they produce cannot be destroyed or flattened; even if you drive a truck over them, they do not cause rejection and do not require regular replacement. Of course, all of them have passed the most stringent tests and numerous quality checks and have the appropriate patents and certificates of the USA, the European Union and the Russian Federation.

Another confirmation of high quality and reliability is the lifetime warranty from well-known manufacturers that they provide for their products.

How to choose the shape and size of implants?

Modern endoprostheses are round or anatomical (teardrop-shaped). Many people believe that anatomical ones are better because they more closely match the natural shape of the breast. This is not so, or rather not always so.

To solve some problems (for example, for an accentuated increase in the volume of the upper pole of the breast), round implants are better suited. That is why, after the advent of anatomically shaped endoprostheses, plastic surgeons still did not abandon the use of round models. So, if you are thinking about choosing the shape of an implant, we recommend that you consult with specialists. Only a qualified plastic surgeon will be able to choose from hundreds of options the very model that will make your breasts ideal.

Well, what if you don’t yet know what size and shape of breasts you need? It’s not for nothing that they say “it’s better to see once.” Order modeling with one or several implants of different sizes, and you will be able to clearly assess the advantages of your future breasts, and in several options.

More information about the system of precise computer breast modeling can be found here.

Size guide

Contrary to the generally accepted classification of female breast sizes (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5), the size range of implants by plastic surgeons is determined by the volume of the filler. In this case, one size is 150 ml of filler.

Manufacturers offer a wide range of sizes of silicone breast implants, ranging from the smallest (105 ml) to the most voluminous (1050 ml).

Along with this, implants are also classified by profile:

  • mini (low);
  • demi (medium);
  • full (high);
  • corse (extra high).

In the photo you can see what breast implants of each profile look like.

Surgeons can easily select the ideal implant for each patient in a dimensional matrix, taking into account aesthetic qualities, physiological characteristics and medical indications.

Among all modern breast implants, Motiva is considered the most innovative and safe today.

Big and small

For various reasons, women turn to plastic surgeons to increase breast volume. Some people are concerned about the too small volume of the mammary glands, others do not like sagging breasts after childbirth and breastfeeding, others experience complexes from asymmetry, etc.

But with a huge range of endoprostheses, many simply find it difficult to choose the volume of the implant. It should be understood that every woman is individual. Implants of the same volume can look completely different in different patients. For some, the breasts acquire proportionality, fullness and firmness; for others, they look artificial.

Only a plastic surgeon can objectively assess a woman’s figure and determine the optimal implant size. To have beautiful breasts, it is not necessary to install an implant of maximum volume.

It is also necessary to take into account that large implants have significant weight, and after their installation the usual center of gravity changes. If the body adapts quickly to small implants, then with larger sizes women often experience chest pain and the period of adaptation is significantly extended.

How is the breast implant shell constructed?

The shell consists of several layers. This guarantees strength, eliminates “leakage” and even minimal evaporation of its contents. The surface of the implant shell can be smooth or rough.

For round implants this does not matter much, but for anatomical ones it is very important.

The rough surface prevents the implant from sliding and turning, keeping it in the correct position.

But not all textured (rough) surfaces fix the endoprosthesis in the tissues equally well. Implants from the world's leading manufacturers, used in the Doktorplastic clinic, are distinguished by good quality of fixation, so situations in which the implant moves are practically excluded.

Features of the gel

This factor additionally influences the choice between Motiva or Mentor - the more natural the “behavior” of the filler, the more natural the décolleté area looks.

  • The internal filling of Mentor is MemoryGel cohesive gel, which can quickly recover from any deformation. Presented in 3 variations:
      Extra soft (I) for round implant breasts.
  • Medium soft (II) for girls with a low percentage of subcutaneous tissue.
  • High-density (III) for a precise aesthetics of the new bust.
  • Motiva offers an alternative of three types of endoprosthesis filler components from the Progressive Gel line:
      Highly elastic Contour (not used in Russian beauty clinics);
  • Soft Plus to create neat contours of the breast;
  • Ultima guarantees a natural feel and shape in all positions.

Polyurethane implants. What are they and why are they needed?

In addition to silicone, plastic surgeons may offer you to install polyurethane-coated breast implants. The quality and basic properties of polyurethane endoprostheses correspond to silicone analogues, but the price is slightly higher. Their main difference is that the polyurethane shell practically does not slip in the tissues of the body. Polyurethane implants are most often used in repeated plastic surgeries to completely eliminate displacement (rotation) of the endoprosthesis.

What are polyurethane implants?

The main distinguishing feature of polyurethane implants is the presence of an outer layer of special medical polyurethane foam. Thus, the elements are more dense and at the same time stable. There is no risk of complications - both immediately after surgery and during wear. This “predictability of behavior” determines the popularity of polystyrene endoprostheses, which are rightly called one of the most progressive.

Visually, medical polyurethane looks like a foam film covering the implant. The shell thoroughly absorbs the tissue fluid of the bed; accordingly, the wound heals according to the “dry” concept. Over time, the polyurethane layer is absorbed, and the implant remains securely fixed. At the same time, it has been officially proven that implants made from p/u are absolutely safe for human health!

Experienced plastic surgeons consider polyurethane endoprostheses to be the safest for primary and especially secondary breast correction. It is very important to achieve maximum results with minimal risk - from the point of view of both aesthetics and biocompatibility. The polyurethane implant copes with these tasks almost flawlessly!

For the first six months, breasts may be denser than they should be. This occurs due to the gradual formation of a fibrous capsule, but after a few months the bust will be much softer than with the implantation of analogue elements.

What are the implants filled with?

A breast enlargement implant consists of a durable shell and filler. The quality and durability of the structure, as well as the need for its replacement, largely depend on this content. Currently, the following types of prostheses exist:

  • saline;
  • silicone;
  • hydrogel.

Relatively recently, implants filled with small silicate balls have been introduced into use. They are lightweight, but have not yet been studied to the required extent.

Salt

This is the very first type of breast implants that appeared at the disposal of plastic surgeons. Inside the durable shell there is a physiological solution that does not cause harm to the body even if it penetrates the tissue. This type of prosthesis is considered obsolete, and most clinics have long abandoned its use. However, the product was not without advantages, including:

  • low price compared to analogues from other materials;
  • the possibility of filling after implantation, which allows you to get by with a minimum length incision;
  • relative safety in case of rupture, since saline solution is completely safe for tissues.

The disadvantages of saline implants include:

  • low strength and high risk of rupture;
  • wear and tear over time due to movement of the chest during breathing;
  • the need for repeated surgery in case of damage to the prosthesis;
  • softness;
  • gurgling sounds during movements that can be heard by others;
  • significant weight, which can eventually lead to severe sagging of the breast.

IMPORTANT! The installation of saline prostheses could cause a “washboard effect” or ripping, when small folds appeared on the surface of the breast skin in a certain position.

All these shortcomings at one time became the reason for the gradual decline in the popularity of saline breast prostheses.

Silicone

Silicone is the currently most popular type of filler. During their use, these implants have undergone a number of changes. The first generation versions were far from ideal: they had a fragile shell and broke over time. The main cause of damage was not injuries, but the respiratory movements of the chest, due to which the shell of the prosthesis gradually became thinner. Early models of silicone implants required replacement every few years.

Inside modern silicone implants of the latest generation, silicone has the consistency of a thick gel, which completely retains its shape and does not spread even if the shell is accidentally damaged. The shell itself has also become much stronger. During testing, it was subjected to repeated deformations, and they did not lead to ruptures.

Depending on the characteristics of the gel, there are several types of silicone implants:

  • standard cohesive (well imitate gland tissue);
  • highly cohesive (practically not deformed due to high density, but the breasts feel unnatural to the touch);
  • Soft touch (soft gel with a memory effect, i.e. restoring its shape when compressed).

Here are the advantages of modern silicone implants:

  • provide a natural appearance to the breasts, being correctly selected by the doctor in size;
  • not detectable by touch;
  • many manufacturers claim that the implants they produce have a lifetime warranty;
  • extremely rarely cause allergies
  • rarely cause capsular contracture (growth of scar tissue around the implant);
  • They have a “memory effect”: they restore their shape after compression.

The GALAXY Beauty Institute uses the most advanced silicone implants of the latest generation from the world's leading manufacturers.

IMPORTANT! Such an implant can only be damaged if there is significant trauma or puncture of the chest. That is why, if such manipulation is necessary, it is necessary to inform the doctor in advance about the installed implant.

The disadvantages of silicone structures include the need for a full cut to install them, as well as the inability to detect damage by touch. Diagnosis requires an MRI.

Hydrogel

The basis of the hydrogel is the natural substance carboxymethylcellulose. They are not cheap, but have a number of advantages:

  • do not cause allergic reactions, inflammation or rejection;
  • do not damage tissues: if the contents are released, it breaks down into glucose, water and carbon dioxide, which are safe for the body;
  • do not interfere with mammography.

The main disadvantages of hydrogel are the high price and a gradual decrease in volume due to the slow seepage of the filler outside the shell.

Pros and cons of POLYTECH implants

Endoprostheses of the Polytech brand are innovative implants that are as safe as possible for patients and fully comply with modern quality standards. Their advantages include:

  • increased degree of filling of the implant to achieve optimal volume;
  • the presence of an additional size D in most series of POLYTECH breast implants, which allows you to correctly position the nipple areolas without additional correction;
  • the ability to manufacture custom-made endoprostheses within the framework of the “Custom Made Implants” program, including POLYTECH polyurethane implants;
  • compliance with quality standards, including the European regulation for honey. class III devices;
  • mandatory five-stage laboratory tests for each implant (products are tested for tension, elongation, wear resistance, etc.);
  • high safety of endoprostheses and minimal risk of complications due to the eight-layer textured shell.

The only drawback of POLYTECH implants is their price. Although the high cost of the products is fully compensated by their quality and minimal risk of postoperative complications.

Safety

All Polytech endoprostheses have quality certificates and a mandatory CE mark, which confirms their compliance with EU standards. In addition, since 2007, the company has offered all patients with their implants to become participants in the Implants of Excellence voluntary guarantee program. Registration of breast implants on the company’s official website allows you to receive:

  • free lifetime replacement of endoprostheses in case of rupture of the shell associated with the properties of the material;
  • replacement of implants within 10 years after surgery when diagnosed with capsular contracture of grade III or IV according to Breaker.

To participate in the program, you need to fill out a special form at the office within 6 months after plastic surgery. POLYTECH website. For registration, passport data of the implant will be required (the doctor issues a document for endoprostheses to the patient immediately after the operation). The manufacturer's warranty is already included in the price of POLYTECH implants and does not require additional payments. Also, a waiver of the warranty will not allow you to reduce the cost of endoprostheses or save on surgery.

What determines the cost of plastic surgery for breast augmentation?

The question of how much breast augmentation plastic surgery costs will be decided individually for each specific case. The final price includes the following expenses:

  • comprehensive preoperative diagnostics depending on health status and concomitant diseases;
  • the price of modern safe implants;
  • the cost of the work of a surgeon - a high-level professional, taking into account the complexity of the correction and the use of proprietary techniques, as well as the work of the attending medical personnel;
  • anesthesia, use of modern equipment, cost of consumables;
  • postoperative observation, hospital stay.

The cost of breast augmentation surgery at OLYMP CLINIC in Moscow is not overpriced, so it is affordable for most patients.
