Nasal reconstruction is a medical miracle

Reconstructive rhinoplasty (nose job) is an operation aimed at correcting congenital and acquired defects (including after unsuccessful surgery). The most common reasons for reconstructive rhinoplasty are: a fractured nose, structural damage after a failed nose job, and a partial (or complete) absence of the nose as a result of injury.

Reconstructive plastic surgery, when compared with conventional rhinoplasty, is a more complex surgical intervention. Damage to the osteochondral tissues of the nose requires the rhinosurgeon to perform exquisite work, extensive knowledge and extensive experience in carrying out this type of correction.

Reconstructing the external structures of the nose is an even more difficult task, which only a surgeon with impressive experience can do. Plastic surgeons at our clinic specialize in nasal surgery and have been performing reconstructive rhinoplasty for over 25 years.

What problems does the operation solve?

Rhinoplasty of the wings of the nose is often a stage of general rhinoplasty, but for special indications it is performed separately. So, using this operation you can fix:

  • nostrils that are too wide or narrow;
  • wing length;
  • large wings of the nose;
  • asymmetry of the nostrils;
  • thickness of cartilage and skin on the nostrils;
  • retraction of the nostrils.

The final volume of intervention is determined by the surgeon during a face-to-face consultation. In some cases, the doctor may also recommend other types of nose correction.

Stages of reconstructive rhinoplasty:

  • The rhinosurgeon makes incisions on the inside of the nostrils and in the columella area (open rhinoplasty method).
  • The doctor carefully removes the skin from the osteochondral tissues and performs manipulations to restore them.
  • At the end of the operation, the surgeon places tampons (turundas) into the nasal passages, and a plaster splint is necessarily applied to the surface of the nose. The fixing pad promotes the formation of the correct shape of the nose and protects it from negative influences.

How is rhinoplasty of the nose wings performed?

At our Institute, all operations begin with an initial appointment with the surgeon. During it, anamnesis is collected and the necessary tests are prescribed. In no case should you try to hide important information from the doctor (for example, the presence of contraindications to surgery), since only with the most complete picture is the success of the operation guaranteed.

Before undergoing rhinoplasty, you will definitely be consulted by an anesthesiologist and surgeon. The first one will find out if you have allergic reactions to certain drugs, and the second one will take several photographs and apply preoperative markings.

After the anesthesiologist is satisfied that the administered anesthesia has worked, the team, led by the surgeon, prepares to begin the operation. The technique for performing nasal plastic surgery will depend on the result that the surgeon wants to achieve:

  1. When reducing the wings of the nose, small incisions are made on the sides at the base and excess tissue is removed. After this, the surgeon carefully stitches the edges.
  2. To narrow the nostrils, the surgeon cuts the area of the columella (the skin of the nasal septum) and draws a thread, thus pulling the nasal openings towards each other. Part of the skin that spoils the proportions is excised, after which sutures are applied.
  3. The problem of wing retraction requires restoration of support and is solved by tissue transplantation. Typically, tissue taken from the outside of the ear or from the nasal septum is used.

All operations last on average from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. After all manipulations are completed, the patient is put in a plaster cast, taken out of anesthesia and transported to the ward.

Recovery after correction of the wings of the nose

In most cases, this type of rhinoplasty is tolerated very easily: cases of severe swelling and bruising under the eyes are rare. However, all patients who have undergone this operation must follow the same rules as patients who have undergone more serious types of rhinoplasty:

  • Do not touch the bandage until it is removed;
  • it is necessary to rinse the nasal passages every 1.5-2 hours;
  • Excessive heat exposure (sun, solarium, bath) should be avoided;
  • If possible, you should limit any physical activity for at least the first 2-3 days.

The sutures are removed on days 5-6, the postoperative scar is noticeable for 1.5-2 months, then it lightens and becomes almost invisible. Swelling that may occur after surgery also goes away within a week after surgery. The nose takes on its final appearance 5-6 months after correction.

You can sign up for an initial examination and consultation on the website or by phone. After the examination, the surgeon will examine the condition of the nasal structures, determine the type of operation and prescribe a preoperative examination. The cost of admission is one and a half thousand rubles.

How much does rhinoplasty of the nose cost in Moscow, the price for the procedure and operation options.

Septoplasty

Surgery to correct a deviated nasal septum. A deviated septum causes subsequent curvature of the turbinates, impaired nasal breathing and leads to the development of serious pathologies.

The purpose of the operation is to restore the supporting parts of the septum, preserving the mucous membrane, and partially straighten or remove the curved structures. The operation is performed under general anesthesia and takes, depending on the complexity, from one and a half to two hours. Access is through the nostrils, so there are no scars or scars left on the face.

The cost depends on the degree of deformation of the partition and starts from 90 thousand rubles.

Conchoplasty

Functional surgery to reduce the size of the turbinates. With chronic pathologies of the nasal turbinates, difficulty in nasal breathing, rhinogenic headaches, chronic sinusitis and loss of smell appear.

As a result of the operation, the deformation of the nasal concha is eliminated, and the resistance of the airways to air flow is reduced. Respiratory function, quality of life and performance are improved. The cost of the procedure at the ART Clinic is 45,000 rubles.

Open and closed rhinoplasty

These rhinoplasty methods differ in the method of implementation and the purpose of the operation. In closed rhinoplasty, all incisions are made internally. The method is used to achieve an aesthetic effect with the correct structure of the nose. The operation and rehabilitation take less time; unlike open rhinoplasty, there are no visible scars. This option is less traumatic, but more complex. Requires a highly professional surgeon.

When eliminating significant defects, congenital or acquired, an open type of rhinoplasty is used. In complex reconstruction cases, the surgeon needs visual control of the nasal structures.

Both methods are widely used at the ART-Clinic Plastic Surgery Center. With varying degrees of nasal deformation and the selected type of rhinoplasty, the cost varies from 225 to 305 thousand rubles.

Contraindications for surgery

Rhinoplasty is not possible if the patient has the following health problems:

  • exacerbation of chronic diseases;
  • diabetes;
  • bleeding disorders;
  • oncological diseases.

Attention! All aesthetic plastic surgeries and most cosmetic procedures are strictly contraindicated for pregnant and lactating women. We also do not perform surgical interventions on people whose weight exceeds 110 kg.

Nose fracture

If you have a broken nose, it is advisable to immediately go to a hospital where there is a department of maxillofacial surgery. In the first day after a fracture, displaced and broken nasal bones can be quickly and easily restored. If you go to the hospital immediately, the procedure does not require anesthesia or incisions. In the event that it was not possible to immediately seek medical help, you will have to undergo a full-fledged rhinoplasty after the nose has completely healed - in six months.

Correction of post-traumatic nasal deformities is always combined with plastic surgery of the nasal septum

Whether to restore the nose after a fracture or not is the patient’s decision. However, in addition to aesthetic imperfection, a fracture often leads to problems with nasal breathing, which necessarily requires medical attention.

Rehabilitation

The recovery period after surgery lasts 2 weeks. However, the final “shrinkage of the nose” lasts up to one year. After 10-14 days, the patient feels comfortable, nasal breathing is restored, swelling and hematomas disappear.

The turundas are removed from the patient's nose the next day after surgery. The plaster splint is removed after 10-14 days. For 2 months it is recommended to protect the nose from negative influences and injuries. 3-6 months after rhinoplasty, scars in the columella area become completely invisible.

When was your first rhinoplasty performed?

Indian doctors began performing successful nose correction operations back in the 18th century. In 1774, a detailed article on nasal reconstruction was published, describing the process. This work became decisive, its technique formed the basis of modern rhinoplasty, the founder of which is J. Carpu.

At what age is rhinoplasty usually done?

Nose correction surgery in St. Petersburg cannot be classified as an anti-aging intervention, but it is noted that it is in adulthood that patients more often turn to doctors. This is due to the fact that even a nose that was ideal in youth can change its shape slightly; the tip of the nose often droops. The reason for this is a decrease in tissue elasticity. The face becomes dull, but this problem can be solved with plastic surgery of the tip of the nose.

When is a “planned” correction necessary?

Such a measure as “planned” correction is usually necessary for patients with deviated nasal septums and other breathing defects, which will still require intervention over time. Doctors recommend not to wait until the problem becomes obvious, but to make the first correction at the age of 18-20, that is, after the end of bone tissue growth, when the hormonal levels have stabilized.

“Planned” nose correction is possible up to 30-35 years of age, but it should be remembered that with age, the elasticity and tone of the tissue decreases, that is, recovery will be slower.

When will the result be visible?

Many patients who decide to undergo such an operation as how to reduce their nose,

I'm concerned about the length of the full recovery period.

The final result of the operation can be assessed only 5-6 months after it is performed, when the restoration of cartilage and bone tissue is completed, all swelling has gone away, and the skin has shrunk. In the case of a complex intervention, doctors recommend waiting 1-1.5 years, only after that it will be possible to talk about the result of the operation.

Rhinoplasty is far from a luxury! This is just an opportunity to make your facial features more graceful and attractive. By contacting a plastic surgeon, you will forever get rid of your complexes and gain self-confidence.

How to make your nose smaller with rhinoplasty

An operation to reduce or change the shape of the nose is a responsible, serious step, before which the patient must clearly decide what kind of result he wants to achieve.

Indications for rhinoplasty include not only the desire to change appearance, but also a number of medical problems. During the operation, the surgeon can immediately carry out a set of additional manipulations, eliminating such defects as a deviated nasal septum, hump, asymmetry, and functional disorders.

Plastic surgery, which solves the problem of how to reduce the nose , is carried out using combined anesthesia (general combined with local anesthesia), the duration is from half an hour to an hour and a half, which depends on the complexity and volume of the work.

Today, surgeons use different access methods, but the best is considered to be a closed technique with incisions passing only inside the nasal cavity on the mucous membrane of the wings. The specialists of the Abrielle clinic use exactly this, least traumatic method.

Changing the size and shape of the nose is carried out by correcting the bone and cartilage sections, due to the redistribution of tissue volumes when part of them is removed or supplemented with fascial and cartilage grafts.

With open access, the sutures after rhinoplasty are removed after 5-7 days, the scars become pale only after a couple of months. The closed access used at the Abrielle clinic assumes that all incisions made are sutured with special absorbable threads, that is, there is no need to remove the sutures, and there are no external traces left except for a beautiful nose without any defects.

What is nose reconstruction?

Nasal reconstruction is an operation that is indicated for people with any defects or flaws in the nose resulting from trauma, for example, after a facial burn or an animal bite. And also for patients who have previously undergone aesthetic rhinoplasty, but the result did not meet their expectations. When the reflection in the mirror still does not please the eye, breathing functions are not restored and cause discomfort. There are often situations when, after undergoing rhinoplasty, the patient’s osteochondral frame is completely absent or partially lost, the nasal septum may be significantly damaged, and the soft tissue of the nose may be excessively removed. The solution to this problem is surgical restoration of the nose using reconstructive rhinoplasty. In St. Petersburg you can do it with us.

Reconstructive rhinoplasty is a type of surgery during which a plastic surgeon restores the lost shape of the nose or creates it anew.

Restoring the nose is a complex and responsible process; the organ itself has a rather complex structure. That is why nasal reconstruction should be performed only by highly qualified surgeons with extensive experience in the field of reconstructive plastic surgery.
