SAG SKIN ON THE ABDOMEN - what to do and where does it come from?

There are 3 main causes of sagging and loose skin in the abdominal area:

  1. The first and most common reason is pregnancy. After all, during pregnancy, as the tummy grows, the skin stretches to very large sizes, and then, after childbirth, it does not have time to quickly return to its former shape. Therefore, none of the young mothers leave the maternity hospital with a perfect flat tummy like before pregnancy.
  2. The next reason is sudden weight loss. This is how our female body works, we gain excess quickly, often even unnoticed by ourselves. But fashion dictates its own rules and there is a need to lose weight, and women begin to use trendy, unsparing diets that are effective in weight loss, but can have a detrimental effect on the food system, metabolism and health in general, and also after sudden weight loss, the skin condition leaves much to be desired the best.
  3. And the third reason, unfortunately, the most natural one is age. The skin becomes less elastic and elastic over time, as cells renew themselves more slowly, the dermis becomes thinner, blood circulates more slowly, so the capillaries are not enriched with oxygen and the dermis lacks moisture. The skin aging process starts after 25 years. Of course, if the muscles are toned, this process will slow down, but it cannot be stopped completely, and sooner or later the skin on the abdomen will still sag. But this does not mean that you need to give up, of course, at the age of 50, the skin will not look like that of a 20-year-old girl, but with proper care, it can look better than that of a 40-year-old woman who does not take care of herself.

The main secret of elastic skin on the abdomen is its elasticity. And the task of any girl who takes care of herself is to preserve it for as long as possible. The skin will not become flabby if it regularly receives hydration and if under the skin there is not a layer of fat, but an elastic muscle frame.

Unfortunately, they have not yet come up with a way, other than surgery, to tighten the skin without physical exertion. Therefore, isn’t it better to do prevention in the form of training than to solve the problem itself later?

An integrated approach to solving the problem

Unfortunately, when choosing a strategy to combat the problem of sagging skin in the abdominal area, you will have to take into account that you will not be able to achieve results only by eating right.

Or regularly doing belly peeling and using special cosmetics, you should not hope for a miracle.

The problem can only be solved by a set of measures, which include:

  1. Proper nutrition.
  2. Sport.
  3. Drinking regime.
  4. Cosmetic care.
  5. Rejection of bad habits.

Next, we will consider each measure in more detail.

When and who can have abdominoplasty?

Tummy tuck is performed on people over 18 years of age. The upper age limit does not matter if indicated and in full health. On average, patients aged 30-45 years apply for tummy tuck. Abdominoplasty is indicated for both women and men.

The incision for tummy tuck is made in a line that can be hidden under underwear. In some cases, not only excision of excess skin is required, but also suturing of the abdominal muscle. Photo from the website of surgeon D.R. Grishkyan, there are contraindications, consultation with a specialist is required.

Nutrition

If sagging skin on the abdomen appears due to sudden weight loss, then now is the time to switch to a proper and balanced diet in order to replenish the reserves of vitamins, minerals and other substances that help in the process of skin regeneration.

You should definitely include fermented milk products (kefir, yogurt, natural yogurt) in your diet, as they allow protein to be fully absorbed, and therefore receive the necessary amino acids.

Amino acids are the main building material for connective tissue cells. Your menu should include fish: trout and salmon may seem expensive, but pink salmon is also a good option. Red fish contains collagen (a protein that underlies the connective tissue of the body, ensuring its elasticity).

A large amount of collagen is also found in seaweed, turkey and fresh herbs.

The condition of the dermis is greatly influenced by a chemical element such as zinc; you can get it from seafood and quail eggs.

As mentioned above, nutrition must be balanced, that is, the body must receive sufficient amounts of proteins, fats and carbohydrates:

  1. Proteins can be either plant or animal. The optimal norm is 1-2 grams per kilogram of human weight. Animal proteins are found in meat, fish, eggs, and cottage cheese. Plant-based – in legumes, some grains, vegetables (for example, eggplant) and mushrooms.
  2. Fats have a big impact on the skin. Vegetables, that is, oils, should predominate in the diet. The norm is 30 grams.
  3. Carbohydrates are a source of energy. Choose complex ones - these are cereals, vegetables, durum wheat pasta, wholemeal bread. Simple carbohydrates can be obtained from fruits and honey.

Causes of a saggy belly after losing weight

When the process of losing weight starts, the body experiences a deficit of calories necessary for life. To make up for the lack of energy, it spends the existing reserves of fatty and amino acids, which is why the skin becomes flabby and dry.

There is also a loss of vitamins and minerals, and less collagen fiber is produced. As a result, the skin loses elasticity and sag.

The body especially suffers when weight loss is based not on proper nutrition, but on a strict diet. Systems and organs, in particular the skin, do not have time to prepare for stress.

The first “victim” of the flabbiness that appears is the stomach, then the turn comes to the arms, thighs and buttocks, chest and face.

In addition to sudden weight loss, the causes of sagging skin can be:

  • recent birth (in the absence of sports activities before pregnancy);
  • C-section;
  • smoking and alcohol abuse.

It is generally accepted that only very thin people are concerned about the problem of stretched and sagging skin. But that's not true. “Folds” interfere with both slender and plump people.

They appear as a result:

  • age-related thinning of the dermis, which reduces the synthesis of collagen and elastin fibers (they create an extensible but durable skin frame);
  • severe stretching of the skin during pregnancy, when weight is rapidly gained, with diseases of the endocrine system or impaired metabolism (which leads to rupture of connective tissue fibers inside the skin);
  • rapid weight loss, when the length of elastin and collagen fibers becomes too large for the changed body volume; Moreover, the number of kilograms lost is not so important: even those who have simply brought their weight back to normal may be puzzled by the question of how to remove belly flab after losing weight.

It happens that because of unsightly folds that have arisen as a result of losing weight, women begin to specifically gain weight in order to remove them. This is an extreme that should be avoided. Moreover, by purposefully taking care of your skin, you can partially restore its elasticity and firmness.

Be prepared for the fact that if you decide to remove a sagging belly, you need to be patient, this is a long process.

Even having achieved the desired effect (this may take a little time), you have to consolidate it and prevent a “relapse” by regularly working on yourself. It consists in:

  • physical activity;
  • home care;
  • a range of professional cosmetology procedures;
  • correction by surgical methods.

Drinking regime

In order for your skin to look good, it simply needs water. There is such a thing as turgor. In simple terms, this is elasticity. The main reason for decreased turgor is dehydration.

To prevent this, the body must receive the required amount of water every day. The average value is 2 liters. Sweet carbonated drinks, tea, coffee do not count. It is better to avoid coffee altogether, as it actually leads to dehydration. Replace it with green tea. Only plain water can restore skin elasticity.

Physical exercise

No matter how busy you are, if your goal is to tighten your skin, you need to find time for physical activity. And training should be regular, and not limited to one-time visits to the gym or home workouts.

Exercising and exercising in the morning should become routine for you. In principle, any activity will give a positive result, so you can choose what you like. This could be some kind of active dancing, aerobics, just running or strength training in the gym. But swimming or water aerobics will be most effective.

If you definitely don’t have time to go to the pool or dance, let’s consider options for home exercises to tighten the skin.

Under this hated flabby skin there is a muscle called the abs.

This is what you need to download to achieve the result:

  1. The upper press works during normal lifting of the body, lying on the floor with legs bent at the knees, and even when lifting a fallen pen or something else from the floor, the upper press always works. To achieve results faster, you can take small dumbbells in your hands when lifting your torso and exercise with weights.
  2. Also, you can not lift the entire body, but only lift your shoulder blades off the floor, while your hands should be behind your head, elbows pointing in different directions, your eyes looking up, and your chin not touching your body.
  3. It is more difficult to pump up the lower abs , but it is quite possible, and with it, tighten the skin of the abdomen. For this, an exercise such as raising straight legs while lying on the floor is quite suitable; when lifting, you need to exhale, when lowering, do not throw your legs on the floor, but do not bring them to the end a little, so that there remains an angle of about 30 degrees between the floor and legs . When performing this exercise, it is very important not to arch your back in the lumbar region; it should be pressed to the floor, otherwise a very large load will be placed on the spine, and our task is to load the abs.
  4. You can also do scissors or spin a bicycle while lying on the floor, but make sure that the angle between your legs and the floor is too large; the smaller it is, the more your abs tense, and the closer you are to achieving your goal.
  5. In order to tighten the lateral abdominal muscles and skin, you can perform all kinds of twisting. Lying on your back with your knees bent and your hands behind your head, alternately stretch with one elbow to the opposite knee, then with the other.
  6. A very effective exercise for strengthening the whole body and the abs in particular is the static exercise - the plank. It can be either on straight arms or on the elbows, both lateral and straight. Your task is to stand on your toes and hands as if doing push-ups, without bending or lifting your pelvis too high, so that your body forms one straight line. Start with 30 seconds and gradually increase the exercise time.

Beauty care

You can increase the firmness and elasticity of the skin of the abdomen with the help of cosmetic procedures.

For example, massage or body wraps.

If you massage on a problem area of the body, the results will not be long in coming. There are many types of massage, but their essence lies in one thing - increasing the flow of oxygenated blood to the massaged area helps the skin to regenerate and tighten faster.

Kinds:

  1. The massage can be plucked , it consists of pinching, rubbing, kneading.
  2. Honey , which allows you to remove waste and toxins from the body through the skin, and this in turn has a beneficial effect on its condition.
  3. Sculptural massage that corrects body shapes.
  4. Hydromassage, or more simply put, water massage, which you can do right in the shower by directing a stream of water with high pressure to the problem area and from time to time changing the temperature from cold to hot to create a contrast, and this in turn will allow the pores to open and the skin will be breathe in a new way and tighten up.

When massaging, it is necessary to use special creams or oils that increase skin elasticity. Massage using devices such as special rollers, massage mittens and gloves will also be effective.

The most effective wrap for tightening the dermis is a composition with kelp . This is an algae that is very rich in iodine and mineral salts.

You can buy it at the pharmacy, soak it before use, add a couple of tablespoons of red hot pepper tincture, apply to the skin and wrap in cling film. Be sure to dress warmly, cover yourself with a blanket and lie down to rest. Due to the burning sensation from the pepper, the pores will open, and the skin will better absorb beneficial substances from the kelp, which in turn will tighten it.

And the simplest thing you can do for the skin on your stomach is cleansing it of the keratinized layer of cells, nourishing and moisturizing it. Be sure to regularly cleanse your skin with scrubs and apply nourishing moisturizers.

Effective methods to quickly tighten muscles

It is impossible to get rid of this shortcoming in a month, much less in one week. The required amount of time depends on the neglect of the case. If excess weight reaches a tragic scale, it is very difficult for a person to start actively training, and proper nutrition and cosmetic procedures will bring barely noticeable improvements. The only way is to turn to experienced specialists; only after this does a person have the opportunity to correct his body himself.

Using a combination of a set of all rules helps to speed up the process of giving the body an ideal shape. They can be compiled by a specialist individually for each case.

Rejection of bad habits

Everyone knows that bad habits greatly affect the condition of the skin.

If you still decide to put yourself in order, you will have to give up:

  • smoking;
  • alcohol;
  • junk food;

You need to start actively spending your free time, rather than sitting at the computer and getting enough sleep. Of course, it’s difficult to change your lifestyle right away, but if you change your habits at least gradually, the result will not be long in coming: the skin on your stomach will not only take on a healthy appearance, become toned and tightened.

How to get a flat and toned stomach with a hoop

Hula hoop rotation is an exercise that engages the abdominal muscles, increases the tone of the peritoneum, helps tighten the skin, and get rid of fat deposits in the problem area. You should start spinning the hoop for 10 minutes, and then increase the load until you reach 45 minutes a day. For beginners, it is better to practice first with a lightweight plastic one, and then switch to a metal one with hula hoop massage attachments. To prevent the attachments from damaging unprepared skin, during the first lessons you need to wrap yourself in a towel or a special rubber belt.

Salon treatments

Many beauty salons now offer a huge range of services that are aimed at improving skin condition. But basically they include the same peelings, wraps and massages, but they will cost you much more than at home.

And you don’t need to assume that if you go to a salon, all your problems will be immediately solved there! Salon treatments will be just as ineffective as home treatments if they are not supported by the effects of proper nutrition and physical activity.

The salon may offer you an expensive procedure for hardware vacuum massage, which, in principle, can be replaced with a regular cupping massage at home, and you can also remove excess sagging skin using plastic surgery.

How to remove sagging abdominal skin?

If the case is very advanced, then aesthetic surgery can be used. But there are contraindications and there is a period of rehabilitation. Therefore, you initially need to undergo an examination, consult a specialist, and only after that decide on surgery.

After this, there are usually no serious consequences or scars, but this is only if the surgery is performed by a qualified professional.

Expert advice

  1. The most important thing that experts can advise regarding such a skin problem is to make sure that it does not stretch. To do this, you don’t need to fight extra pounds, but make sure they don’t appear.
  2. Don't lose weight quickly. Yes, it’s clear that you want to achieve your goal faster, and when you see the result, there’s more than enough motivation, but remember that your skin is suffering. The acceptable norm is 1-2 kilograms per month, and not 10 kilograms per week, as tempting advertising screams at us.
  3. Proper nutrition is something without which you cannot achieve perfect skin. The diet should contain vitamins and minerals; if there are not enough of them in food, then you should think about taking vitamin complexes.
  4. Physical exercise will help build muscle mass in the place where there used to be a layer of fat, due to this the skin will tighten.
  5. Massage and cosmetic skin care, as an addition to all of the above, can play a decisive role and speed up the process of restoring to its former shape.
  6. If all this does not help , then you can contact a plastic surgeon, but remember that this procedure is not cheap and is not always effective.
