Aesthetic surgery Breast Breast augmentation How the volume of implants is selected
Hello girls! Today is a lesson in applied geometry. It will be boring, so think carefully about whether to read all this further.
Or give the surgeon a clear task: “ Give me 350 ml. like a girlfriend. She liked it, so it will suit me too.” Or like this: “ I studied everything on the Internet, give me 480 ml .”
If you are still tormented by doubts about whether to use 285 or 310 ml and whether there is a difference between them , then I will try to clarify this issue.
How to choose an implant?
Breast implants are medical devices made of biocompatible material that are installed under the muscle or skin to simulate the breast and increase its size. They began to be used in the 60s of the last century. During this time, they have improved the shape and increased the size of female breasts for more than three million patients. The implant is selected based on soft tissue parameters. There are certain anatomical landmarks - the basic width and height of the mammary gland; firmness, elasticity, turgor of soft tissues, their thickness. All these indicators must be taken into account during the implant selection process. There is a clear algorithm with which the surgeon determines the optimal implant for each patient.
Congratulations! All parameters are taken into account, the choice is made.
But how do you know that you are not mistaken? I like to conclude the consultation with visualization of the selected implants. Visualization is a demonstration of the expected result using external sizers or 3-D modeling.
External sizers imitate future breasts. It's like specially selected push ups to fit different volume implants. You can not only see but also tactilely feel it.
3-D visualization is a computer simulation of the result based on your photos. The program shows how your breasts change when different implants are installed.
In difficult cases, the final choice of implant occurs during surgery using intraoperative sizers.
Thus, the task of the plastic surgeon is to offer a solution that is based on your anatomy and your desires. Such breasts will perfectly harmonize your figure and provide long-lasting, safe results.
How to choose the shape of the implant?
POLYTECH® implants have a modular structure. This means that each base with a width from 70 mm to 158 mm is available in different projections (which we will discuss below) and in each type of implant:
What breast implants do we offer?
- Même - dome-shaped with a round base, following the contours of a young woman’s breast;
- Replicon - anatomical with a round base, following the contours of an adult woman’s breast;
- Opticon - anatomical with a shortened base, suitable for obese women with curvy figures;
- Optimam is anatomical with an oblong base, suitable for slender women with an athletic build.
How to choose an implant surface?
POLYTECH® implants are available in shells with different surfaces:
- MESMO® sensitive™ - micro-textured, silky to the touch;
- POLYtxt® - macro-textured, rough to the touch;
- Microthane® - micropolyurethane, soft to the touch.
The textured and micropolyurethane surface of POLYTECH® implants has pores into which connective tissue penetrates. This is what makes it possible to prevent its growth and minimize the occurrence of complications such as capsular contracture. Moreover, implants with such a surface do not move and are securely fixed in the breast, which is also an undeniable advantage.
Photos 3 weeks after 450 ml mammoplasty
OP 01/16/2015
09 January 2015 I have 85 under the chest, now I wear 85 in. I wonder what size it will be if I insert 400. The doctor said that this is the fourth size.
I can’t show myself naked to people, I’m very shy...
Eh, it wasn’t true (yes, I’m not shy about doing naked photo shoots). Look what's happening now. What size is it? What do you think will happen if you put 400 round?
under the chest 85 (I now wear 85 B) I’m not sure about the base, I was not in the right state at the doctor’s appointment to remember. I was overcome by some kind of euphoria and I lost consciousness (
January 10, 2015 In order not to clutter other threads with my panic attacks, I’ll create my own, brand new one) The enlargement operation is scheduled for January 14 at about 10 am, and the panic began several days ago. I must say that I always wanted to enlarge my breasts, but the decision that “now the moment has come” came somehow suddenly. Somewhere in early December, I started looking for a doctor on the Internet, on January 5 I came for the first consultation, then I passed all the tests and now I can control myself in anticipation. The problem is that everything happened so quickly that I didn’t even have time to ask any questions, not to mention the fact that this is my first operation in my life and I’m terribly afraid of anesthesia! So far, one point is unclear to me: What’s wrong with the compression? The doctor told me that they would give it to me. But I will have to walk in it for at least a month, that is, it cannot be washed? and you can't take pictures at all? Should I buy another one or what should I do?
Thank you all for your support. While I’m looking at beautiful lingerie and thinking about what I would like to buy for my new beautiful breasts. But this is still a lot of time before the operation, probably there I will cry and beg not to cut me)))
I think your attitude is no less important, your head should be on your shoulders because this procedure is responsible and the result will last for a long time.
11 January 2015 Round, 400 ml. I don’t even know what size it will be!!!! You want big breasts so much, you can’t imagine. Girl, how much does a compression suit cost on average? The doctor advised me to have one for 6,000, but buying a second replacement for that amount of money makes me toad. or is this a normal price??
So I’ve seen a lot of operations at work, but to survive everything myself is different. Thank you for the compliment, for some reason my breasts seem very sad to me and I even started to feel embarrassed about them. I hope the form really turns out to be good!
Yes, I’ll think how my boyfriend will be stunned when he sees it. This will be a surprise for him, he is currently working in another city and doesn’t know what I’m up to here))))
We discussed this topic more than once, he is definitely not against plastic surgery and it doesn’t matter to him whether his breasts are real or not. We talked a long time ago and he said that a C or even a B would be good for me. I completely agree with this, I would like 3.5. Maybe I’ll give him a hint so that he’s not completely shocked, but he’ll definitely be happy))))
12 January 2015, Good afternoon, doctor. I am soon scheduled for mammoplasty and I am terribly afraid of anesthesia, since I have never had anything like this done before! Is it possible to give anesthesia without a mask, but only with an injection? Will they have to insert a tube into their mouth? After anesthesia, will I be allowed to sleep or, on the contrary, will I be prohibited from sleeping???
I think this is mostly a gift to myself, because I don’t have the strength, I’m tired of the paralon! But he will be happy too! That's it, girls, I'm starting to get a bad feeling. It's probably time to go to the pharmacy for some sedatives. I fell asleep only at 4 in the morning, woke up at 8 and always had terrible dreams about the fact that I had to do my own breasts during the operation... I really hope that my doctor has seen less nervous patients and will not refuse to cut me if I cry
Yes, I understand your feelings) it’s like jumping with a parachute. At first it’s scary and then it’s a thrill. But what can I do, I’m so nervous, although I agree that I will also remember this day with nostalgia.
January 18, 2015 Two days have already passed since breast augmentation surgery, and it’s absolutely impossible to sleep at night!!! If you lie on your back, you feel like the implants are rolling somewhere in your armpits and hurting. At night, both arms became numb (is it because of the implants or compression?) I was immediately given 450 ml, which is quite a large volume. After waking up, my chest hurts terribly and swells. What to do? How long will it be??
AAAA help! We had the operation on the 16th, now the chest doesn’t hurt, but if you lie there for a long time, the chest becomes full and it’s like there are some bubbles there. drainage was not installed. Help, is this normal? I'm really scared(
January 19, 2015 Thank you, I won’t talk about the doctor yet, I’m not very happy with the work and the attitude towards me as a patient. I'm so terrified, it feels like my chest is about to burst (((
January 20, 2015 Looks sooooo big. I feel like I don’t belong, my back hurts. While there is little joy, but not much suffering either
I'm afraid that the size will be too big anyway... they gave me 450 ml although they promised 400. Tomorrow I'll go for a dressing and see what happened, but it already seems to me that I should have stopped at 300
Oh how scary and nerve-wracking it all is!! I hope that it will be at least a size smaller than now. Although I’m still flattened by compression and little is clear. Although the swelling seems to have gone away, nothing hurts.
January 21, 2015, I’m afraid it’s big or asymmetrical or something else is wrong... the doctor on the phone dropped the phrase that “if we don’t like something, we’ll correct it” and I felt uneasy. I'm more afraid of tomorrow than of surgery. I read that the swelling will go down and the breasts will be about a size smaller, this is good. Today is only the 4th day after the op and nothing hurts or bothers me. this is somehow suspicious.. I think it’s time for me to take a sedative
Fifth day after surgery. They allowed me to wash and apply oils so that the bruises would go away. So far everything looks terribly unnatural, I hope it’s normal for such a short period of time
January 22, 2015 I know that the profile is round. The doctor said that it would look very natural. So far I have such a difficulty that the entire volume seems to be on top and on the side, and below everything is completely flat and still pressed down by compression. this is right?
I don’t have documents, they showed them to me, I just noticed that I was interested, and then decided to leave everything along with the medical record at the hospital. But only a week has passed since the OP, probably the form will still change?
January 23, 2015 How long after the operation did your breasts become of a normal, natural shape? To get the implant in place?
Thank you, it’s just that in a month my boyfriend will return from another city, so I’m worried whether they’ll have time to get back into place...
January 24, 2015 Girls, I once again unfastened my compression suit and again in sadness *tear* Something is going wrong. The shape is simply terrible! My doctor is on vacation, there is no one to consult with. Today is the 8th day after the OP. Tell me something!
As for the compression garment, the doctor told me that I need to unfasten it twice a day and apply ointment to the bruises; I can wash myself; she advised me to lie down for about 5 minutes with my breasts free. Thanks everyone for your feedback, it makes me feel better!
January 27, 2015 Tomorrow the stitches on my chest will be removed, I’ll finally talk to the doctor. But it seems to me that the breasts are already becoming softer; under the compression, such a sexy hollow has formed between the breasts)))
January 28, 2015 Today is the 12th day after the OP. The stitches were removed and it didn't hurt at all. It still looks scary, but I'm not so worried about the seams. By the way, who was advised to smear with what? Is there also some kind of plaster that seems to help healing? The doctor advised me to use ointment, but I want to ask those who have gone through this. My breasts feel great, and a cleavage is slowly forming. They allowed me to sleep as I was comfortable, very soon I’ll be able to buy underwear))) I’m not sure I’ll be able to walk around in it all the time, but I really want to see it)
I've been given a patch before, but I don't know which one. Sensitivity is returning little by little, but you know, it’s only been two weeks... For now, I mostly feel something burning and bruises hurting)))
January 29, 2015 AAA!!!What beauties! I moved the compression garment down a lot so that it wouldn’t press, and the shape became much better. They move slightly towards each other, creating a hollow. It’s still hard and a little painful to touch... today is 13 days, I’m terribly pleased!!! Can you please share what you can apply to the stitches after 2 weeks? And how to do this? I do not know anything(
There is no elastic on top, only compression, which can be seen in the photo. They somehow went down on their own, I don’t know why) Yeah, that is, I won’t do anything for now, but after a month I’ll go to the doctor and ask about the patches. I will still consult with her
February 02, 2015 Yesterday I removed all the patches and left the stitch to heal. I just can’t wait to wear a dress with a low neckline and beautiful lingerie!!!! Now the hardest part is waiting)
The story of the patient "Ailey" was taken from the forum.
How to choose the implant size?
Most patients believe that breast size after augmentation depends on the size of the implant, and pay their attention exclusively to its volume. However, choosing a size is different. At the appointment, the surgeon measures the width of the base of the breast, according to which he determines the width of the base of the implant. After this, the patient and the doctor choose the optimal shape and surface of the implant. In the POLYTECH® catalog you can find the desired model, which is presented in four projections:
- low;
- average;
- high;
- extra high.
The higher the projection, the more the chest protrudes forward. Thus, by choosing a projection, the patient determines the size of her breasts.
It is important to understand “what a woman wants...”.
Plastic surgery is largely psychological. The ideal result is the fruit of mutual understanding between the surgeon and the patient.
Choosing small breasts is dangerous due to dissatisfaction with the result. You come for augmentation mammoplasty. And you want to get the corresponding effect. And after a while you realize that it’s not enough... Remember that the main reason for repeated operations is the desire to install a larger implant.
A larger volume implant provides maximum satisfaction after surgery. And if it is chosen correctly, it provides a stable long-term result.
We must not forget that very large implants not only contour in the lateral and upper sections, but also put excessive pressure on the breast tissue, which can lead to its atrophy. Very large implants are more likely to sag and require correction.
Not only volume is important, but also proportions, the ratio of breast tissue and implant. The choice of profile and projection of the implant is of great importance. They are the ones who form the emotion that your breasts will evoke. As a result, the breasts can be of medium volume, but with a beautiful projection, creating the effect of “you can’t take your eyes off!”
