Evgeniy Vasilievich, what connects you with the city of Tver?
More than a hundred years of my family history. My grandparents, my mother, me, my children and grandchildren were born here. We have a real dynasty of doctors: my grandmother was a midwife, my mother was a general practitioner, my aunt was a nurse, my children are also doctors, and my granddaughter is studying at a medical institute. Two more grandchildren are now schoolchildren, I am against setting them up “only for medical school!” Let them choose their own path.
How did you choose your profession?
I grew up in a medical environment, listened to some conversations, willy-nilly absorbed the stories of patients, and when I graduated from school, it was completely obvious to me where to go! And with cosmetology it happened completely by accident. In the early 60s, the Ministry of Health issued an order to create cosmetology services in cities with a population of more than 100 thousand.
I then worked for the first year in dentistry, in maxillofacial surgery. And at that time, paid medical services included only dental prosthetics. So they decided to open cosmetology on the basis of dental clinics.
They called me and promised:
— If you go to Barnaul to open a cosmetology clinic, we’ll even give you a room!
— What is cosmetology?

I lived in a dormitory then. And in my mind, “cosmetology” meant powdering your nose and painting your lips. And with this I went to study in Moscow at the Research Institute of Cosmetology. The institute was headed by Antonina Fedorovna Akhabadze, and the head physician was Chernova - so they laid the foundations of cosmetology in our country.
In 1963 he moved to Barnaul, and three years later he returned to Tver. Here, too, there was already an order to open such a clinic and a room was allocated, albeit completely empty and without even partitions. A kind of hall on the current street. Trekhsvyatskaya. We had to do everything from scratch - redevelopment, ordering equipment. Everything was complicated back then - applications for any table or instrument took a year to submit! They met us and the first operations began in July 1966. Specialists trained in Moscow began to return - massage therapists, pedicurists, epilators, a cosmetologist, a dermatologist, a surgeon...
I was 26 years old at the time, and I looked very undignified) Looking into the office, some were even indignant at what kind of student was put in charge of the clinic?
And in 1966 there was already hair removal?! You can’t tell from the photographs and posters of those years!
There was electrolysis. But for example, there were no Botox, no threads. They appeared about 15 years ago. There was always a queue at our clinic, each with their own problem - dry skin, oily skin, hair loss, warts... but at first we only worked on the face. Then, when bed capacity became available, they began to think about body plastic surgery. Changing the shape of the breast, reducing the size - all this happened, but prostheses appeared much later. Methods have constantly changed, I still constantly participate in conferences and seminars. And in 1984, the All-Union Conference of Cosmetologists was held in Tver, in our office. Doctors from 15 republics came to us! We were all friends! Why are politicians quarreling? I think that there are good people and bad, kind and evil, smart and stupid. And nationality has absolutely nothing to do with it!
I can assume that the vast majority of your clients are women. Do men contact you?
Yes, 10-15% of clients are men. They mainly correct the shape of the nose and ears. Even when we first opened, we had huge queues of men from the Caucasus; they wanted a small, straight nose). Nowadays, men often do eyelids, but we ourselves try not to use them for a circular lift, do you know why? Men usually have short hair or a bald head, and traces of surgery cannot be hidden under bangs)
And so our clients are mostly women, of course. And not only from Tver and the region, but from Moscow, Khabarovsk, the Baltic states, Georgia, Armenia, and wherever they came from! And I established warm relationships with everyone. It’s so nice when a client calls, for example, from Makhachkala, and says that the therapist thought that she was given the wrong card, because it can’t be that age!

A cosmetologist will teach you how to properly care for your skin, and not like in the movie “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears” - she stuck cucumbers and strawberries on her face and thinks it’s good. Or a friend praised the cream, and “I want it too!” Hygienic cosmetology takes into account many factors: skin type, age, and even where you work - outdoors or indoors. There is medical cosmetology. Skin and hair problems. And there is electrosurgery in cosmetology - removal of benign formations, piercing of ears. In general, the range of services is very wide, you can’t tell us about everything - the batteries in your voice recorder will run out!
Now we have a new clinic in a new location, modern equipment and fundamentally different conditions for doctors and patients. And we continue to make people beautiful... for me, beauty is not about saving the world, not about fashion and ambitions, and not even about age, but simply – psychophysiological expediency!
You give the impression of a happy person, can you share your recipe for happiness?
Well, what do you need in life? A job I love, one wife all my life, two children, three grandchildren, a small hobby. I love digging in the ground. We have a small house where I was born, on Bragin Street. My family has lived there since 1917, and in a small area around it I grow flowers from snow to snow. From a seed, from nothing, beauty grows and delights the soul!
