Naomi Campbell - 46: the most striking images and the loudest scandals of a dark-skinned supermodel

Black Panther - it is impossible to choose a more accurate description for Naomi Campbell. She has a unique cat's plasticity, as graceful and sophisticated as this beautiful animal, and just as... dangerous. Yes, Naomi has a lot of scandals behind her, but it’s hard not to recognize her greatness: she became the first black model to appear on the covers of European Vogue and Time magazines. Today the supermodel turns 46 years old, and she still looks absolutely gorgeous, which she demonstrates extremely willingly. We decided to recall interesting facts from Naomi Campbell's biography, her most striking images and her most notorious scandalous antics.

Naomi Campbell (2016)

Childhood and youth

Naomi Campbell was born in May 1970 in Streatham, London. The supermodel doesn't know who her father is. The parents divorced when the baby was not even six months old. At the insistence of her mother, Afro-Jamaican ballerina Valerie Morris, Naomi never met her father. Valerie remarried when her daughter was a teenager.

Naomi Campbell in her youth
The daughter passed on her flexibility and plasticity to her mother. At the age of 7, the young dancer appeared in one of Bob Marley’s “Is This Love?” videos. And at 10, Campbell began attending ballet school, deciding to follow in her mother’s footsteps.

After her mother’s second marriage, the girl tried to come home later: constant conflicts with her stepfather took their toll. While walking around Covent Garden, the future Black Panther of the catwalk was spotted by a Parisian modeling agency scout, Beth Boldt. A year later, in 1985, Campbell went to film in the capital of France.

Naomi's early years

Naomi's entire biography is a story of rapid career growth, an incredible breakthrough of a girl with dark skin in the modeling world. The model was born into the family of a black dancer. Naomi's mother was constantly on the road due to tours, so her daughter had to stay with her grandmother or a nanny.

Naomi never dreamed of becoming a model. After all, dark-skinned girls faced severe discrimination in any public activity, especially in show business. Therefore, the girl became a dancer. At the age of seven she began studying ballet.

Modeling career

In 1986, Naomi Campbell appeared on the cover of Elle. But not only natural beauty, grace and suitable figure parameters (Naomi’s height is 175 cm, weight – 51 kg) were the reasons for the girl’s appearance on the cover of the cult publication. She had to replace a colleague who was absent for the photo shoot. From that moment on, Naomi’s modeling biography began.

Her exotic beauty was noticed, and the 16-year-old girl received many tempting offers. The face of a dark-skinned British woman now appeared on the covers of French Vogue magazine and English Time.

Soon Naomi Campbell became the heroine of the shows of the most famous fashion houses. In her youth, the exotic beauty was invited to demonstrate clothes from Versace, Valentino, Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana. Because of her cat-like gait, she was called the Black Panther.

In 2007, the model's frantic temper led her to anger management courses and 5 days of community service. This is how the court punished Naomi for beating the maid. But apparently the punishment and courses didn’t really help, because the next year she spat at a law enforcement officer at the airport.

The model was accused of getting into a fight with her young colleague Cara Delevingne at a party in Paris in 2015. However, representatives of both sides denied the spread information about the clash.

Personal life

Campbell's personal life is extremely busy. Her name is associated with many famous men. In the late 1980s, the model dated Mike Tyson. There were rumors about her short affair with Sylvester Stallone.

Naomi had a longer affair with Spanish dancer Joaquin Cortez. When Cortez left the girl, she was depressed for a long time. A relationship with a new guy, musician Adam Clayton, helped the British model return to her former life.

Among Naomi's former lovers, the names of Eric Clapton and Prince Albert are mentioned. After an affair with him, the model was convicted of drug addiction, from which she got rid of it for six months in a specialized clinic.

Naomi once admitted to reporters that she prefers older men who are independent and show fatherly qualities. This probably explains her marriages to Robert De Niro and Flavio Briatore, who gave his beloved a yacht.

A separate page in Naomi’s personal life was her affair with the Russian oligarch Vladislav Doronin. For Campbell’s sake, he even left his wife, and the supermodel, because of her Russian boyfriend, was ready to stay in Moscow and convert to Orthodoxy in order to marry him in church.

In 2011, all the tabloids started talking about their engagement and that Naomi would soon have a Russian husband. But the wedding never happened. In 2012, it became known that Vladislav and Naomi broke up, and in 2013, representatives of the model officially announced the breakup.

Later it became known that Doronin was preparing an expensive wedding gift for Naomi - a house in Barvikha, built in the shape of a yacht by British architect Zaha Hadid.

Blood Diamonds for Black Panther: 50 Years of Naomi Campbell - Supermodels with an Insufferable Temper

Naomi Campbell, even at 50, remains one of the most beautiful women on the planet.

People don't just give the nickname "Black Panther" like that. Naomi Campbell, one of the most beautiful women on the planet, is known for more than just her stunning supermodel career. She, alas, is also known for her outbursts of wild anger, the victims of which were either police officers, her assistants, or journalists. She has not been allowed on British Airways planes for a long time (her name is on the blacklist for life). The New York Times once compared her to Cruella de Vil, the 101 Dalmatians character known for her fierce temper. Smaller character flaws - such as the habit of always being late for everything - need not be mentioned against this background (journalists wait for her for interviews for hours, and photographer David Bailey once waited three days for a shoot). On the other hand, Campbell herself said that she never wanted to be a good girl - she thought it was very boring.

Her childhood was interesting, but difficult. She grew up fatherless - her dad left her mother when he found out that she was pregnant (and Naomi doesn’t even know his name - her mother crossed out this man from her life and the life of her daughter). However, at some point the dancer’s mother left the baby in the care of relatives, and she herself went on tour with the troupe. (Naomi did not forget or forgive her for this: when Oprah Winfrey asked in an interview where she got the habits of a rabid prima donna, she burst into tears and blamed everything on her indifferent mother and childhood traumas).

Naomi herself started working very early. A dazzlingly beautiful girl of Afro-Jamaican origin (with some Chinese blood) at the age of seven she starred in a Bob Marley video, and at 15 she appeared on the cover of British Elle. I studied ballet diligently and a lot. “Nothing came to me for nothing - I earned everything with very hard work,” she said in an interview, and you can believe her. In the 80s, when political correctness had not yet gained momentum, Campbell had to face racism head-on. She became the first black woman to appear on the covers of British and French Vogue. And in the latter case, she had to use the help of her friend, fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent: he found out that the magazine did not want to put a photograph of a dark-skinned girl on the cover, called there and threatened to withdraw all advertising of his products from the publication. And she was taken to the Dolce and Gabbana show only after her friends, fair-skinned models Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista, contacted the designers and announced: “If Naomi isn’t on the catwalk, we won’t be either.”

But already in the early 90s, no one had any questions about her race. She starred in several outstanding videos (most notably George Michael's Freedom '90 and Michael Jackson's In The Closet. Madonna invited her to participate in an extremely risky photo shoot for her book Sex. You can't even mention the endless magazine covers and fashion shows.

But even then her character was called unbearable: the Elite modeling agency refused to cooperate with her, and its founder publicly called Naomi “an insidious, rude, impossible manipulator.” Well, from there it goes.

BEAT PEOPLE WITH A CELL INCLARED WITH JEWELS

In 1998, in Toronto, during the filming of the film Prisoner of Love, Naomi beat her assistant Georgina Galanis: she attacked her, grabbed her by the throat, trying to choke her, hit her on the head with a phone, and then threw her on the sofa. (She didn't like that there was a customs hiccup at the Toronto airport and seemed to think it was Georgina's fault.) The judge released her from punishment, saying she had "learned her lesson and demonstrated remorse." But she didn't really learn anything: in 2000, another assistant, Vanessa Frisby, announced that she, too, had been beaten by Campbell. In September 2004, a third assistant, Simone Craig, alleged that Campbell threw a phone at her and locked her in a Los Angeles hotel room. Naomi vehemently denied the accusations. But that same year, her housekeeper, Millicent Burton, said the supermodel scratched and beat her during an argument.

Naomi seemed to enjoy using her mobile phone (it was an expensive BlackBerry, encrusted with precious stones). In 2005, he beat up a fourth assistant, and in 2006, he hit another housewife in the head (the woman had to get four stitches - for this, Campbell was sentenced to community service and forced to take anger management courses. She worked for the Department of Sanitation for five days, and every day she defiantly wore terribly expensive designer clothes from the latest collections and ordered food from the most luxurious restaurants.Photos from forced labor were widely distributed on the Internet, and designers began offering Naomi to wear their clothes for free - for advertising.

In 2006, a certain Gabi Gibson said that Campbell accused her of stealing jeans and hit her. And another assistant, Amanda Brack, stated that Naomi regularly bullied her, insulted her, spread her hands, and once drowned her passport in the pool!

She proudly said that she “learned her lesson” - and again she lied. The following year, she did something that supermodels, or anyone else, are not recommended to do: she attacked police officers. One of her bags could not be loaded onto a British Airways plane. The pilot personally approached her to tell her about it and apologize - and in response received the phrase “You won’t fly anywhere until you find my fucking bags.” Then, judging by eyewitness accounts, a complete hysteria began: Naomi waved her arms like mad, screamed, spat, kicked (and she had shoes with very sharp heels) and, of course, used her main weapon - her precious phone. She didn’t get off easy: she was sentenced to 200 hours of community service and a fine of £2,300, and she also paid the offended police officers £200 and £150 personally.

INTENSIVE STONES FROM THE DICTATOR

Another exotic story involves the so-called “blood diamonds,” allegedly received by Campbell as a gift from the Liberian dictator Charles Taylor. They met in 1997 at a reception organized by Nelson Mandela. According to Campbell herself, at night someone knocked on the door of her hotel room and handed her a bag. She opened it only the next morning and discovered several small, inconspicuous stones. (Uncut diamonds look like this, they look like glass).

And it seems that Taylor mined these stones in Sierra Leone, sold them, bought weapons with this money and sponsored the civil war (all this is described in detail in the film “Blood Diamond” with Leonardo DiCaprio). The next morning, Campbell showed them to actress Mia Farrow and model Carol White at breakfast. The women discussed the gift and came to the conclusion that it was from Taylor. Campbell said she would probably give them to the Mandela Foundation (the foundation later claimed that they had not received anything).

The story resurfaced a few years later when Taylor was tried for unspeakable atrocities committed during his reign (he was said to have forced his fighters to eat the meat of prisoners captured in civil wars to “demoralize the enemy”). And Campbell was called to court as a witness. There she presented the version described above. But Carol White had a completely different version: she said that Campbell flirted slightly with the dictator at Mandela’s dinner, and then enthusiastically told him that he had promised to give her stones...

She is such a complex woman. Most similar not even to a panther, but to a Siamese cat - they are also incredibly beautiful and wildly aggressive. But someone turns them on. And Campbell (still in great shape at 50) will be the dream of many men in our world. Especially the rich ones. And, most importantly, fearless.

Naomi, even at 50, continues to delight fans with candid photos.

NAOMI AND THE MEN

The aforementioned Nelson Mandela once called her an “honorary daughter.” U2 bassist Adam Clayton said in an interview that of all the gifts in the world that he could receive, he only needed a date with Naomi Campbell (interestingly, they soon met and then announced their engagement - however, they split up a year later). In the late 90s, it became known about another engagement of hers - with Formula One manager Flavio Briatore (he is 20 years older than her - but she has always been drawn to older men, in whom, perhaps, she is trying to find the father who was absent in her life ). Well, only those who, from 2008 to 2013, while this relationship lasted, never picked up a newspaper, don’t know about her affair with Russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin).

Appearance and style

A beautiful face and slender body are advantages in themselves, but what makes them shine is the model’s excellent taste and style developed over the years. Over the years of work in the fashion industry, the latter’s special elements have become capes, feathers and fringes, dresses shimmering with a metallic sheen, and clothes that hug the figure like a second skin.

Did you know that Naomi Campbell's long, chic dark brown hair is a wig?!
And this is what she looks like without it... Posted by Gennadiy Stoyanov on Monday, December 24, 2018

Naomi Campbell without a wig
Naomi Campbell does not hide the fact that she wears wigs both on the catwalk and in everyday life. This is a necessary measure: her hair is weak and brittle and is constantly falling out. The supermodel tries not to allow paparazzi to photograph her without a wig or makeup.

It is known from foreign media that the celebrity resorted to nose surgery and liposuction. Attentive observers are confident that over time, Naomi’s facial features have become more graceful. Campbell herself has not commented on rumors about plastic surgery.

Plastic surgery Naomi Campbell

If you compare the photos of an adult and a young Naomi, it becomes clear that she was given a unique eye shape, large lips and a beautiful face shape by nature.

The only difference is the nose. Children's photos show that the girl has a wide wing with large wings - typical of the Negroid race. Apparently, Naomi had rhinoplasty, because now her nose is in perfect shape.

Rumors about liposuction are just rumors. After all, throughout her entire life, the model has never gained weight to the point of needing to lose weight.

The only problem is Naomi's hair. Due to constant styling, they became thinner and began to fall out a lot. That's why the girl wears wigs. She loves to change styles and appears in a new look every time.

Naomi herself says that her beauty is hard work that she has to do every day. She regularly visits a cosmetologist and does home care to maintain healthy and elastic skin.

Not long ago, the model decided to start leading a healthy lifestyle. She no longer drinks alcohol or goes to clubs. Now it has become easier for her to maintain her ideal appearance in order to remain at the top of the modeling business.
