Is it possible to restore breasts after childbirth?

Many women believe that breastfeeding is the main reason that breasts lose shape. This is not entirely true; there are factors that can change its appearance even more:

  • Excess weight. Overweight mothers are more likely to experience similar problems.
  • Previous pregnancies. The more children you have, the higher the chances that your breasts will lose shape.
  • Big size. During pregnancy, it will become even larger, and the load on the ligaments and skin will increase.
  • Age. Don't forget that during pregnancy and lactation your breasts will become approximately two years older, and take into account age-related changes.
  • Heredity. If your mother had this problem, it may happen to you too.

Rate yourself on this list - this will give you a rough idea of how much your breasts may be affected. If you have few risk factors, recovery will likely not be a problem. If there is, just hope for the best and do your best.

But the most important thing is...

You understand that the success of a breast lift with the help of fitness depends 60% on your nutrition. After all, in order for the muscles to take the correct shape, the skin to become toned, and the excess fat to go away, certain nutrients and vitamins are needed. In other words, you can’t do it without helpers. Excluding traditional medicine, we first include our favorite women's vitamin complexes and omega-3. You won’t have to search long here, because there are trusted manufacturers and products. Women over 25 need to include collagen and glucosamine with chondroitin in their diet. Don't forget about getting enough protein into your body: eat more seasonal fruits and vegetables. Water is one of the most important factors in maintaining healthy and elastic skin.

At home, you can perfectly practice cosmetic procedures, wraps, masks, applications. Spend some time massaging your breasts; this is an effective remedy for making your skin tone and velvety. And in combination with the right essential oils and creams, the effect will be much better.

How to restore breast firmness after childbirth?

No one can guarantee that after childbirth and breastfeeding, your breasts will remain the way you knew and loved them. However, if you take good care of your body, your chances will increase significantly. Keep 10 valuable recommendations, the implementation of which reduces the risk of being left with two “deflated balloons” after finishing feeding.

Do exercises

There is no muscle tissue in your mammary glands, so you will not be able to “pump up” them. But underneath them there is: the pectoralis major and minor muscles are located there. When they are in good shape, your breasts will look more perky, so any reasonable physical activity and exercise that targets these muscles will be beneficial.

Wear a bra

Gravity is one of the natural enemies. Wear a bra, and when choosing it, first of all, pay attention not to the design, but to the comfort and support properties. You'll likely have to ditch your old bras for a while and buy new ones because your breasts will increase in size later in pregnancy and stay that way during breastfeeding.

Don't slouch

The bra straps pull the cups up, thereby lifting your breasts. When you slouch, all that wonderful structure sags and the support deteriorates. So straighten your shoulders and straighten your back - this is one of the secrets to maintaining breast shape after childbirth.

Take care of your skin

The firmness of your breasts, in particular, depends on the firmness of your skin, and you can influence this. Moisturize it with natural remedies, such as lotions with herbal extracts. Use a gentle scrub or loofah pad every day to remove dead skin cells to improve blood circulation and improve skin elasticity.

Watch your diet

Try to eat a balanced diet, eat more vegetables and whole grains. Reduce your intake of high-cholesterol animal fats and replace them with vegetable oils. A good choice is olive oil. In addition to fatty acids that are easy for the body, it is rich in vitamin E - the same tocopherol that is found in almost every skin care product.

Take a contrast shower

How does a contrast shower help preserve breasts after childbirth? It improves blood circulation in the skin - hot water opens the pores, and cold water tightens them. We can say that with its help the skin does “cyclical training”, thanks to which it maintains its tone and elasticity.

Feed your baby in a comfortable position

Have you watched the cartoon about a curious baby elephant who was grabbed by the nose by a crocodile and turned into a long trunk? Watch it with your child - this is a wonderful hand-drawn short film based on a story by Rudyard Kipling. So, if a baby is forced to reach for the nipple, the same thing can happen to your breast as to a baby elephant’s nose. Find a position that keeps your breasts in a comfortable position and does not stretch, for example, place a pillow on your lap before you start feeding.

Stop breastfeeding gradually

Experts do not recommend abruptly interrupting feeding: it is better to first cancel one of the daily feedings, after a few days - the second, and so on. Step-by-step refusal of mother's milk will be the most comfortable and painless for the baby. Surprisingly, it will also help maintain the shape and size of the breasts after childbirth - a gradual decrease in lactation promotes the natural restoration of fatty tissue.

Don't try to lose weight quickly

As with the end of breastfeeding, there is no need to rush to return your figure to its pre-pregnancy form. Eat a healthy diet, give your body moderate exercise, and your weight will gradually return to normal. If you try to force things, the skin may not have time to recover and will hang in unnecessary folds in the most inappropriate places.

Quit smoking

We hope that you know about the dangers of smoking during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but you should still write this advice. Smoking contributes to premature aging of the skin, and the breasts are one of the first to suffer.

Using free weights

These include dumbbells, barbells, weights and other loose sports equipment. By exercising with such sports equipment, you can become stronger, work on flexibility and coordination. For comparison, stationary strength training machines set the load only on specific muscle areas. Free weights also work the auxiliary muscles, ligaments and tendons.

Bench press horizontally

A very effective basic exercise that allows you to pump up the pectoral muscles, shoulder extensors, and anterior deltoids. Also, when pushing a projectile, an intense contraction of the abs occurs, the legs, back and buttocks become tense. To perform the movement you will need a special bench and, in fact, a barbell.

Take a lying position, spread your legs slightly, focusing on your heels, but without lifting your toes from the floor. Now bring your shoulder blades together, press the back of your head, shoulders and buttocks to the bench.

Grasp the bar with a narrow or wide grip. The first is relevant for pumping the small pectoral muscles, the second - the large ones. Hold the apparatus at arm's length above your chest. As you inhale, lower it down, lightly touching your sternum. As you exhale, lift yourself above yourself again. Your forearms should be perpendicular to the floor surface.

Bent over barbell press

An excellent exercise that allows you to use the muscles of the lower and upper chest area. For comparison, the classic version helps to pump up mainly the central zone.

To begin, set the back of the bench at an angle of 35-40°. Sit on a bench, spread your legs, resting your feet on the floor. The shoulders, back of the head and hips should fit tightly to the bench.

Now grab the bar of the projectile (the grip can be wide or narrow, as in the previous embodiment). While holding your breath after inhaling, lower the barbell to your chest, making a light touch. As you exhale, lift it up.

Dumbbell Bench Press

Basic exercises for the pectoral muscles are suitable for both men and women. Thanks to the use of sports equipment, the most effective pumping of the chest and small stabilizer muscles is carried out. The movement can be performed on a completely horizontal or inclined bench.

To begin, take a lying position. Take the sports equipment in your hands and, moving your elbow joints to the sides, lower the dumbbells to your chest. Now lift them up, straightening your limbs completely. Complete the planned number of sets and reps.

When performing, do not spread the projectiles too wide; try to bring them together as much as possible in the top position.

Lying dumbbell raises

This movement is designed to sculpt the pecs while also stretching and adding volume. When performing, you can lie on a horizontal or inclined bench. Be careful when including it in your training program. This movement is very dangerous. To avoid having to recover from an injury later, leaving training for a long time, do not take too much weight, especially if you are just starting to exercise.

Take a lying position. Bring your shoulder blades together, spread your legs shoulder-width apart, focusing on your heels, but without lifting the toes of your feet from the floor. Hold the dumbbells and lift them up (you can only start and finish the exercise from the top position). As you inhale, spread your arms, slightly bending your elbows. As you exhale, return to the starting position.

Pullover with dumbbell

Another good exercise for training the pectoral muscles. There are several variations of this movement. But if we are talking about working out the chest area, a lying position on an inclined plane will be relevant.

Lie down on a bench, hold the apparatus in front of you in line with your chest. Use a lock grip or place your hands one above the other. The back of the head, buttocks and shoulder blades should be pressed tightly to the surface. Place your feet shoulder-width apart.

Slowly lower the dumbbell behind your head, engaging your shoulder joints. Return to the starting position.

How to restore sagging breasts after childbirth?

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, your breasts undergo amazing metamorphoses. Large and full after childbirth, it changes every day several times - first the baby empties it, then it fills up again. Your breasts will look different all the time, and no one knows in what shape they will finish this marathon. If by the end of feeding she really seriously sag, nothing can be done about it. Therefore, follow our advice every day - this way you will minimize the risks.

You may hear another piece of advice from some people: stop breastfeeding completely and feed your baby formula from birth. Please don't do this! Firstly, you are depriving your child of the most natural and healthy food, which no formula can even come close to matching. And secondly, you won’t achieve your goal either. Your breasts begin to change not when you start breastfeeding, but even during pregnancy. The amount of adipose tissue, which is responsible for a pleasant roundness, decreases, and the amount of glandular tissue (from the word “gland”, not “iron”) increases to ensure sufficient milk production. Refusal to breastfeed will cause the glandular tissue to quickly dissolve and release volume, while the fatty tissue may not be restored completely.

Is it possible to have a breast lift after childbirth?

Doctors do not consider changes in breast shape after childbirth to be a medical problem. This is purely an aesthetic issue, so you can just accept that your body is different than before and live with it. If you can’t come to terms with it, go to a plastic surgery clinic and they will perform a facelift operation.

With mastopexy (as this procedure is officially called), the doctor removes excess glandular, fatty and skin tissue, corrects overstretched ligaments that support the mammary glands, and also repositions the nipple and areola (moves them slightly upward). In some cases, the surgeon recommends both tightening the breasts after childbirth and simultaneously enlarging them in order to restore firmness and achieve the correct shape. This is such a nice bonus.

Understanding and respecting your desire to be beautiful, we are obliged to remind you that a facelift is a serious surgical operation with its own contraindications and possible complications. Listen carefully to the doctor’s recommendations, weigh the pros and cons - and only then make a decision.

Massage

You can also rub the skin with an ice cube as a manual massage. They are rubbed over the chest with light massage movements in a circle for no longer than a minute. Then the skin is wiped dry and a tight bra is put on. At the end of the procedure, it is recommended to lie down for half an hour. This massage can be repeated 2 times a day.

To achieve a beautiful round breast shape, it is recommended to do water massage. It can be carried out with any shower head by adjusting the water pressure. You need to massage the entire costal area under the chest and sides. In total, this procedure should take 5-7 minutes. Then you can repeat it with cool water.

Manual massage can be done with any base oil (almond, jojoba or avocado), olive oil is considered especially useful, as it contains essential fatty acids and antioxidants for the skin. You can add a couple of drops of another essential oil, such as rosemary, to this base.

A small amount of oil is rubbed into the skin with light movements, moving from bottom to top, from the center of the chest to the armpits. The duration of the procedure is 15 minutes.

Massage alone is not enough to make your breasts erect; you need to take comprehensive measures - choose the right bra, adhere to the principles of a healthy diet, make masks, play sports, etc.

Degrees of mastoptosis

The norm is the position of the nipple at the level of the skin fold at the base of the mammary gland. The gland itself should start from the 3rd rib, its side width should be about 1/3 of its length. A small chest may be equal in width to ¼ of its length.

There are 1, 2 and 3 degrees of breast ptosis:

  • first degree - the breast flattens, the nipple begins to fall below the skin fold under the mammary gland;
  • second - the nipple is located 4 cm below the fold, but is located on the front of the mammary gland;
  • third - the nipple is located on the lower surface of the gland, facing downwards.

Separately, there is pseudoptosis of the breast, in which the mammary gland sags and falls below the skin fold. However, the nipple remains at the level of the fold or slightly above it.
