There are several ways to correct the buttocks. The most popular option is a traditional lift followed by installation of an implant. First, the surgeon removes excess sagging skin (sometimes some fat) to lift and tighten the buttocks. The silicone implant is then placed either on top or underneath the muscle. The second option is the so-called Brazilian butt lift, which is technically a completely different operation.
This procedure involves precisely moving and injecting adipose tissue, which is why its other name is “lipomodeling.” The patient undergoes liposuction, during which fat deposits are removed from his abdomen or thighs. The drained fat is then injected into the buttocks to change their size and shape.
With the first method, there is a risk that the implant will rupture and the silicone may migrate to another place in the body and cause serious complications. In fat grafting, if the needle accidentally hits a blood vessel, the fat can migrate directly to the heart and the patient will die instantly. This is called a “fat embolism” - it occurs when fatty tissue enters the lumen of a vessel, causing it to become blocked, says Dr. Daniel Maman.
Moreover, lipofilling requires general anesthesia. Depending on which method is used, this may result in nausea, vomiting, or temporary cognitive impairment such as memory problems.
There is a third option: the plastic surgeon injects your buttocks with a poly-L-lactic acid filler, specifically Sculptra. This drug stimulates the production of your own collagen. In other words, instead of hyaluronic acid fillers, which basically just store more volume in your skin, Sculptra causes an inflammatory response in your body. It creates a combination of scar tissue and fresh collagen, due to which the effect is longer lasting, and there is no rehabilitation period at all. You can get back to your normal routine the same day, says Darren Smith, a plastic surgeon in New York City.
Although it is not as risky as going under the knife, there are still a number of complications that can arise from this procedure. The most important thing is that Sculptra cannot be removed at once, like other fillers. In 8-10 percent of patients, lumps and bumps form, which can only be cut out or wait several years until they gradually disappear.

How can you tell if a star has undergone lipofilling, for example, or has implants installed?
Of course, it is possible to distinguish an implant. Firstly, the presence of a buttock implant becomes clear to the touch, and secondly, when moving, the implant behaves differently; in a lying position, for example, the implant does not blur, like a natural buttock, but holds its shape, as in a standing position. In this sense, after lipofilling, the buttocks look more natural.
How is both the operation performed?
When installing an implant, an incision is made; the implant itself is most often installed under the gluteal muscle. Accordingly, it will not be possible to do without a seam. In the case of lipofilling, all manipulations are carried out through micropunctures, which avoids incisions and stitches. Fat cells are taken from problem areas - from the abdomen and thighs and, using a thin cannula, are transferred to the buttocks area.
As a rule, girls want to add volume to the upper pole to make the buttocks look more athletic and curvy. I perform this procedure using a Vaser device, which is based on gentle ultrasound, which keeps the cells viable and suitable for transplantation. It also makes it possible to model the buttocks. In the process, I can correct the lower zone, returning a clear subgluteal fold, removing excess fat from the sides, and contouring the athletic buttocks no worse than those of avid gym goers. In this sense, lipofilling provides more opportunities for modeling. After the session, barely noticeable marks remain, which disappear after a couple of months.
Which operation is the least traumatic?
When placing an implant, the pain syndrome is more pronounced. In addition, there are many more complications. In this sense, lipofilling of the buttocks is less traumatic, your own adipose tissue is the most natural “filler”, and there are no foreign objects (implants).
Is it true that it is difficult to guarantee results with lipofilling? After all, if a person loses significant weight, then the fat injected into the area will also resolve?
Implants do provide a more stable result, but do not forget that they can move and shift, including downwards. As for lipofilling, the result will be long-term if the girl maintains a stable weight. With sudden weight loss, some of the fat will go away.
Can a skinny girl have lipofilling?
Lipofilling can be done if a girl has fat deposits in the abdomen, waist, sides, arms or thighs. If the patient has a lack of adipose tissue, the procedure cannot be performed.
How many liters of fat do you need to inject for the results to be noticeable?
The exact amount of fat can only be said in each specific case. But on average I move 0.5 liters of fat into each buttock.
How popular is this procedure in Russia?
Almost every second patient who undergoes Vaser modeling asks to improve the shape of her buttocks. I perform two or three operations on Vaser modeling every day, with the exception of Tuesday and Sunday (these are weekends). If patients request implants, in almost every case, surgeons from our clinic manage to dissuade the girls from this idea and redirect them to lipofilling. There are indeed a lot (!) of complications and limitations with implants. Still, fat is more preferable for modeling!
Will there be more changes?
Today, Kylie Jenner regularly appears in commercials. Most of her photo shoots are very candid in nature, which does not bother her at all. But when asked about changes in appearance, she still shrugs her shoulders and says with a smile that professional makeup and the right clothes work wonders.
