Blepharoplasty – eyelid surgery

Non-surgical laser blepharoplasty is a method of rejuvenating and reducing the skin of the eyelids. In essence, this is laser resurfacing of the upper/lower eyelid.

Our skin is a protein formation, and any protein shrinks under the influence of temperature (we have all seen how, for example, chicken skin shrinks when a piece of chicken is exposed to temperature). But simply heating the skin is not enough - it needs to be perforated to reduce its area and start the processes of rejuvenation and restoration (this is called fractional laser resurfacing).

Penetrating into the skin, the directed light beam burns out the microtubules, and in the places where the laser is exposed, tissue and intercellular fluid are evaporated, which leads to the effect of lifting and compression of the skin flap, as well as the launch of regeneration processes.

Postoperative recovery after eyelid surgery

Blepharoplasty of the upper eyelids: in the postoperative period, the upper eyelids do not hurt, discomfort and lacrimation are possible, minimal to moderate bruising usually does not extend beyond the orbital area. They pass within 7-10 days. Sutures are applied with a thread with an atraumatic needle, non-absorbable threads, and are removed 4-7 days after surgery. During the first 3 weeks you need to be careful not to hit or scratch the eyelid, otherwise the stitches may come apart. If this happens, the wound must be sutured as soon as possible.

After lower eyelid blepharoplasty , the lower eyelids also do not hurt in the postoperative period. Sutures are removed on days 4-7, postoperative rehabilitation is 3-5 days longer than with upper eyelid blepharoplasty. The bruising is somewhat greater than on the upper eyelids. Tearing and discomfort are more common than with upper eyelid surgery.

How is non-surgical blepharoplasty performed?

In modern cosmetology, the most commonly used method for anti-aging procedures is fractional exposure , in which the laser beam does not move in a continuous line, treating the entire surface of the skin, but in a targeted manner.

So-called microwells (columns) are formed, visually on the skin this appears as a network of white dots (white is the dry residue of evaporated skin proteins: collagen and elastin).

Due to the temperature, the skin tightens, and the process of regeneration of new skin structures starts in the affected areas; in fact, new young skin is formed with newly restored collagen and elastin.

It has been proven that the technique is as effective as continuous resurfacing , while it is less painful and traumatic, and also has a shorter recovery period.

The result of non-surgical eyelid blepharoplasty is:

  1. Smoothing out fine wrinkles and reducing the area of skin flap in the treated area.
  2. Improving skin turgor and tone. The manifestations of ptosis are significantly reduced, the eyelid is tightened, and the gaze becomes more open.
  3. Increased skin elasticity. Thermal exposure leads to a double effect: on the one hand, collagen and elastin fibers are twisted into tight spirals, providing the effect of skin contraction and a dense frame. On the other hand, such exposure stimulates the formation of new cells.
  4. Thermal effects improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, which helps fight congestion.

The laser blepharoplasty procedure is performed under local anesthesia and takes from 40 to 60 minutes (including anesthesia). It does not require a hospital stay, and therefore the patient can immediately go home.

Cost of eyelid surgery. Cost of eyelid surgery. Blepharoplasty prices

The price of blepharoplasty depends on many factors. The main factor determining the price of eyelid surgery is the complexity of the manipulations performed, the method of anesthesia, the level of the clinic and the plastic surgeon.

Cost of blepharoplasty : The price of eyelid surgery in Voronezh is on average quite affordable. You can see the result of my blepharoplasty in the photo. This section presents photographs of patients before and after blepharoplasty . You have the opportunity to choose; the cost of eyelid surgery varies, but it is better to be guided not only by the cost of eyelid surgery, but also by the level of skill of the surgeon.

When is it time to have laser blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty in the classical sense implies a surgical operation that involves removing excess skin around the eyes or redistributing intraorbital fat.

Don't wait for your eyelids to droop! You should be wary:

  • The first signs of ptosis of the upper or lower eyelid;
  • Initial manifestations of problems with the nasolacrimal trough and bags under the eyes.
  • Flabbiness of the skin of the eyelids;
  • Dull color and loss of skin tone.

It is important to understand that correction of these aesthetic defects is possible only in the initial stages.

There is no risk of postoperative scar formation during the procedure. Non-surgical rejuvenation is carried out without general anesthesia, and therefore this technique is rapidly gaining popularity among patients. At the end of the rehabilitation period after laser blepharoplasty, the client receives younger and tighter skin without pathological changes.

Preparing for blepharoplasty

Eye blepharoplasty is an operation that requires preparation. A set of measures allows you to minimize the possibility of developing complications or deteriorating aesthetic results.

  1. Preparation for surgery begins with a conversation - the doctor finds out the patient’s wishes and asks clarifying questions about the state of health. After this, the necessary examinations are prescribed. In particular, the plastic surgeon's patient must undergo blood and urine tests before blepharoplasty. This will allow you to find out blood clotting indicators and make sure there are no diseases or infections. It is necessary to provide the result of fluorography, undergo an electrocardiogram, and consult a therapist (the doctor may refer you for additional examinations).
  2. A couple of months before surgery, you should avoid visiting the solarium and the beach - your facial skin should be protected as much as possible from direct sunlight.
  3. A couple of weeks before blepharoplasty you will have to give up alcohol and smoking. Both nicotine and ethanol can provoke unwanted reactions during anesthesia. In addition, these substances impair wound healing.
  4. Drugs that affect blood clotting are excluded. In particular, these are paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid. Citrus fruits and chocolate are contraindicated before blepharoplasty (they also thin the blood).
  5. A few days before surgery, you will have to give up active physical activity and the use of cosmetics. Spicy, fatty, smoked, salty foods should be excluded from the diet - they affect the condition of the skin. It is recommended to reduce the amount of carbohydrates consumed (sweets increase the risk of developing infections). Before surgery, you need to protect yourself from stress as much as possible. Full sleep is shown. Before general anesthesia, you will have to abstain from food for 8-10 hours.

These are just general recommendations. Eyelid surgery is a complex operation. Before it is carried out, the doctor instructs his patient in detail on how to prepare for it.
