Salicylic peeling against blackheads* on the chin

Salicylic acid what is it?

Salicylic acid, or BHA acid

is a fat-soluble acid from the category of phenolic beta-hydroxy acids. It is poorly soluble in water and well in alcohol; it appears as colorless crystals. In cosmetology it is found as Salicylic Acid and is a common keratolytic component in the basis of exfoliating formulas and products for oily problem skin.

BHA acid was first obtained from willow bark soaked in hot water at the end of the 19th century and began to be actively used in pharmaceuticals and cosmeceuticals due to its unique chemical properties. Today, the product is manufactured synthetically, including for the purpose of producing a suitable concentration for safe use in cosmetology. Let's look at the beneficial properties of salicylic acid for facial skin.

The main functions of salicylic acid in cosmetology:

  • The bactericidal and antiseptic properties of the component help fight acne and minimize inflammation.
  • Desmosomes destroy the intercellular connections of keratinized cells, promoting intense exfoliation of the skin.
  • The process of regeneration of epidermal cells is accelerated.
  • Reduces the activity of the sebaceous glands and has a sebum-regulating effect.
  • Penetrating into the pores, the acid deeply cleanses them of sebum accumulation and external impurities, reduces blackheads and the occurrence of acne.
  • Evens out the tone and texture of the face, fights visible age-related changes in the skin.
  • Lightens and whitens the skin, reduces pigmentation and post-acne marks.
  • Improves microcirculation and accelerates the tissue healing process.

Consequences: what must be followed

After the procedure, slight redness with peeling is allowed to appear on the skin for several hours. There is no need to panic over the appearance of crusts on your face during the week.

They also cannot be removed mechanically or using auxiliary means. This can lead to infection of unprotected tissues, which can cause boils.

The face is treated with moisturizers on the recommendation of a cosmetologist.

These tips cannot be ignored , since the result depends on their implementation: whether peeling with salicylic acid will be effective or will turn into a cosmetic “horror story” .

Up

Applications of salicylic acid

The scope of salicylic acid in care is not limited to its inclusion in skin care products. The component is widely used in the treatment of certain diseases and is the basis of many medicines. We'll tell you where BHA acid is used and what its benefits are.

  • In cosmetics

In addition to the fact that salicylic acid is a common component in the basis of corrective care for oily and problematic skin, it is also used in anti-aging product formulas: thanks to its ability to trigger accelerated regeneration of skin cells, the acid smoothes wrinkles, fights pigment spots, and dull complexion.

The substance can also be found in hair shampoos aimed at combating hair loss and against seborrheic dermatitis (dandruff). Highly effective and safe cosmetics based on salicylic acid that have undergone strict dermatological control are best purchased in pharmacies.

  • In cosmetology

In cosmetology, acid is used primarily as the basis for salicylic peels (up to 20% of the composition) for the skin. Despite its acidic properties, the component is highly safe. Salicylic peels are aimed at increasing microcirculation, renewing epidermal cells, and evening out the tone and texture of the face. Preparations based on BHA acid are effective in combating burns, acne and post-acne, the first signs of aging, calluses, and warts.

  • In pharmaceuticals

In medicine, salicylic acid derivatives are found in antiseptic ointments (containing 2, 3, 5, 10%), anti-inflammatory powders, pastes, and alcohol solutions for external use (containing 1 or 2%). Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) in tablets is used as an antipyretic and analgesic and is available without a prescription.

Salicylic acid is successfully used in the treatment of common skin diseases, for example, some types of lichen, psoriasis, seborrhea, alopecia, keratoses, eczema, dermatitis. The composition can also be used to treat burns and wet exuding wounds.

Rules

If professional cleaning is planned, the cosmetologist may prescribe the use of preparations based on tretinoin, hydroxy acids, hydroquinone, and kojic acid.

Chemical peeling is not performed in summer due to high solar activity. The optimal period is early spring or late autumn.

Procedure steps:

  • makeup remover;
  • cleansing the skin using mild cosmetic milk or special wipes;
  • degreasing the surface of the face with lotion (neglecting this point is fraught with uncontrolled penetration of the substance into the deep parts of the epidermis due to a chemical reaction with fats);
  • applying the product to the skin with a brush in 2-3 layers (at this time a tingling sensation occurs; to eliminate discomfort, a stream of cold air is directed to the treated area);
  • removing the solution with water or a neutralizer;
  • applying a mask with anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.

If during the peeling process the burning becomes unbearable, the drug must be washed off immediately.

Already after the first procedure the result is visible, but to achieve maximum effect it is recommended to take a course. The number of sessions is determined depending on the severity of the problem:

  • minor - 6 (every 1-2 weeks);
  • significant (for example, hyperkeratosis or pigmentation) - 8 (with a break of 14 days).

Indications for the use of cosmetics with salicylic acid

Summarizing the main beneficial properties of BHA acid, we can conclude that the product is most effective in the fight against the following imperfections:

  • Pigment spots
    It is used as a means of whitening and lightening pigment and stagnant spots.
  • Enlarged pores
    Reduces sebaceous and sweat ducts, destroying the connections between keratinocytes in them, narrows pores, regulates sebum production.
  • Blackheads
    Cleans pores from sebum residues, prevents the occurrence of inflammatory elements and new imperfections.
  • Acne
    Used as part of local SOS products, which are applied precisely to inflammation and pimples and left, for example, overnight for effect. Suppresses the activity of propionibacteria acne, prevents recurrence of rashes.
  • Expression wrinkles
    Renews the upper layer of the epidermis, helps smooth out fine wrinkles.
  • Dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema
    Dissolves dead cells, minimizes flaking, itching, has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties.
  • Dandruff (seborrhea)
    Effectively removes seborrheic formations, dandruff particles, cleanses the scalp and has an antimicrobial and antipruritic effect.

Precautionary measures

  • It is not recommended to apply products containing more than 10% salicylic acid to the skin to avoid tissue burns.
  • Alcohol solutions based on BHA acid from the pharmacy dry out the skin and can cause dehydration; it is not recommended to apply the solution in its pure form to the skin.
  • Hypersensitive and very dry skin may react to pure salicylic acid with irritation, redness, peeling, and hives.
  • Salicylic acid in La Roche-Posay skincare products is absolutely safe and completely devoid of the disadvantages of using acid in its pure form.

Aftercare

Acid peeling causes tissue burns; the following are considered normal symptoms in the first few days:

  • redness;
  • feeling of tightness;
  • swelling;
  • slight soreness;
  • intense peeling.

The last point indicates that the process of skin renewal has begun. Under no circumstances should you pick off dry scales, as this can lead to scars. Peeling continues for a week.

It is important to properly care for the treated areas. The following recommendations will help speed up tissue healing and restoration:

  • drink plenty of fluids to normalize fluid balance in the body;
  • moisturizing the skin with creams (you may need to purchase it as prescribed by a specialist);
  • regular use of sunscreen when going outside;
  • the use of drugs from the group of steroids to relieve swelling, inflammation and prevent pigmentation.

Don’t forget about an important stage of care - before going outside, apply cream with SPF (minimum 25-30).

On average, rehabilitation lasts 2 weeks, but the time frame is individual for each person, taking into account the characteristics of the body and the ability to regenerate.

Features of the use of salicylic acid for different skin types

For oily and problem skin

Salicylic acid for the face, according to its key functions in cosmetology, is intended primarily for the care of oily skin types. However, you should not overdo it with its use. Combine drying products based on BHA acid with moisturizing products that prevent tissue dehydration.

For dry and sensitive skin

Salicylic acid dries the skin if you neglect the recommendations for its use. Therefore, dermatologists do not recommend using products with a high content of it in formulas. When caring for sensitive skin, acids should be used with caution, as aggressive components irritate the skin and increase its reactivity.

For normal

To care for normal skin types, it is recommended to use products based on salicylic acid for regular exfoliation of the skin: wipe your face with a tonic or lotion based on salicylic acid (1-2, maximum 5% of the composition). It is better to avoid aggressive salicylic peels. If inflammation or acne occurs, it is recommended to apply salicylic acid-based cream locally.

For combined

To care for combination skin, use products with formulas based on salicylic acid and hyaluronic acid to prevent dehydration in the dry areas of the face in the U-zone.

Reviews of those dissatisfied with the effect

Lilia, Kazan. I went for a peeling after hearing about a promotion being held by one of the salons. You could choose any procedure, and I chose salicylic acid cleansing since I have oily skin. The cosmetologist approved my choice and performed a procedure on me, throughout which I felt terrible discomfort: my whole face was burning as if on fire. After the procedure I was incredibly red, but I was reassured that it would go away in a couple of hours. It did not pass! Even the next day I resembled boiled beets. And when the redness finally disappeared, it got even worse: the skin began to peel off in huge pieces, like stripes. I had to take several days off from work and stay at home. When everything was finally restored (it took two weeks), the face, of course, looked better. But not enough to endure such torment for the sake of it. The blackheads remained, and so did the post-acne.

Ksenia, Chelyabinsk. I didn't notice any effect from this procedure at all. My skin didn’t even turn red or peel, although I was preparing for this after reading articles on the Internet. The only thing I felt was a slight tightness, which went away the next day. I was told that I needed to take the whole course, but I had no desire to go to the second session. Either this method is not suitable for my skin, or the wrong concentration was chosen. In general, I no longer trust the specialist who performed the procedure on me.

The effect of salicylic peeling, like any other cosmetic procedure, depends on many factors: the skill of the cosmetologist, the quality of the ingredients, and the individual characteristics of the dermis. Therefore, the effect can be different: from clearly positive to weak or even negative. In any case, it is better to cleanse the skin under the supervision of good specialists.

Salicylic peeling in the salon - reviews

Oh God, I woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and oh horror, my whole face, forehead and temples were in some kind of incomprehensible rash, I thought it was a reaction to cosmetics, I changed it, but there was no improvement. I never suffered from acne, rashes on my face, etc., everything was fine!!!!! I went to see a cosmetologist because I couldn’t stand it anymore. I came to the salon, the cosmetologist recommended salicylic peeling for my reasons, I agreed immediately because I needed to at least do something, somewhere to start. The procedure takes about 40 minutes, which includes: 1. cleansing the face of cosmetics and impurities. 2. applying peeling in 2 stages. 3. washing. 4. soothing face cream. This peeling is sooooooooooooo nuclear, my face burned so much, I endured it with difficulty, I calmed myself with the thought that these “poops” would go away and I would be a beauty again)))))). After the procedure, the effect is visible immediately, the face is somehow fresher, it was pinkish for 2 hours. The rash from peeling began to dry out and crust over, the skin became smooth and this was after the first peeling, but what will happen when you complete the course!!!! You can wash your face only the next day in the morning, with mineral water, and do not apply makeup for a couple of days. Peeling appeared on the second day, you can’t pick them off yourself, as you can develop pigmentation, everything should come off on its own, you constantly need to moisturize the skin. Now is the fifth day and I am very pleased with the result, they prescribed a course once every 10 days, repeat 4 times. The cost of my procedure is 5000. Peeling production is France. I will say one thing, I didn’t spend my money in vain and I will complete the whole course!!!!!!!!!!

Advantages:

noticeable improvements, lightening of blue spots after pimples, tightened and smooth skin, reduction of inflammation

Flaws:

pungent odor during peeling, which goes away quickly

Details:

I am writing a review after the third salicylic peeling procedure. My cosmetologist works with the Enerpeel brand, even before going for peeling, I studied this brand, looked for reviews and generally knew what I was getting into. Even in the reviews of the manufacturer itself it was stated that there is a pungent odor, and this is true. The smell is like sniffing acetone in a small room, but it goes away in just a minute. A cough may occur, which also goes away quickly. The procedure itself: first they remove the makeup, then they wipe the skin with special wipes, these are the ones that smell the most, then they apply an acid solution, such a tube and a brush on it, hold it, deactivate it, smear it with aloe cream and let it go free) You can ask , does it burn? Personally, it’s tolerable for me, it doesn’t even burn, it’s more of a burning sensation on my face, you blow it with a fan and everything goes away, and when the acid is already deactivated, there’s no burning at all. Absolutely tolerable, compared to TCA peeling, where it burns so much that tears stream from your eyes. So everything is learned by comparison. The procedure lasts at most, including the stage of dressing and undressing for 25-30 minutes. You can’t wash your face for 24 hours. If the skin begins to tighten, you can smear the pug with bepanthen or panthenol. After a day, you can wash your face, but under no circumstances wipe your skin with a towel, just blot it slightly and that’s it, again apply bapanten or panthenol. In general, cosmetologists advise applying something gel-like or in the form of foam for the first three days. There is panthenol spray just for these purposes. I personally have a red face the first day after peeling, then a normal complexion, no brown crusts, no baked apple effects, on the third day the skin begins to peel, but this is fine peeling. It starts where there is facial expression, the chin and in the lip area, we continue to apply moisturizing creams and we will be happy. It’s better not to use any cosmetics for at least a week, especially foundations and powders. We don’t peel off anything, we don’t increase the peeling ourselves, but we humbly wait until it peels off) Effect: The skin is smooth, toned, I personally removed post-acne (blue spots from pimples) brrrr, they are slowly fading, of course you shouldn’t expect miracles even after 3 treatments , especially considering that these spots have been accumulated for years. There are no miracles, there is gradual and patient work on oneself. We plan with a cosmetologist to do 5-6 procedures, just in time before the active sun. And yes, the procedures are carried out from October to April and we go out into the sun with a cream of 30 or higher protective factor. And then everything will be chick-peek.

I have been working as a cosmetologist for more than five years and salicylic peeling is a lifesaver for me. It's no secret that many teenagers have extremely sensitive and at the same time problematic skin, which is not easy to deal with. It is difficult to predict how a person will react to an unnecessarily serious intervention.

Therefore, I usually recommend that young people start with a low concentration salicylic peel to check the reaction. The skin invariably looks better, after which I can already recommend other procedures or increase the percentage of acid.

I have combination skin with problem areas on the forehead and chin. At the same time, there are large pores. Only careful care and active, frequent hygiene help keep my skin in optimal condition. I decided to try salicylic peeling on myself. I liked the result. At first, it really burned, especially in the area around the nose. The skin actually peeled off for two days. But then the result justified all the torment. The skin is even, smooth, pores are not noticeable. Now there is comfort and pleasure on the face.

At one time, I tried a bunch of different salon procedures and one of my favorites was salicylic peeling. I was irritated by constant inflammation on the skin and I completed a course of peelings of 15-30% with an interval of 8-11 days. There are six procedures in total. I saw the result after the first procedure, I immediately felt that the skin was cleansed and dried. Somewhere after the third procedure, peeling began, but this is nonsense - it should be so, then everything went away without a trace. In general, I recommend it to everyone. By the way, you can’t use foundation while taking the course, and you can’t be in the sun either.

Advantages:

Shallow professional peeling, perfectly cleanses old skin

Flaws:

It bakes and burns for about 5 minutes, is quite expensive, the procedures are done in a complex.

I have been doing this procedure for several years now, although I am not that old, 28 years old.:) I approach cosmetology wisely. I’m not afraid of new things, but I don’t overuse them either. I am for naturalness, but not for old age. The procedure is good, but it is done in sessions.:) I usually don’t do more than 3 sessions a year, my skin isn’t that bad. Helps very well with acne and oily skin. But it’s also suitable for dry skin, the main thing is to consult a cosmetologist. The procedure itself takes about an hour. Cleansing, peeling, moisturizing. The procedure is quite painful, although it affects only the upper layers of the skin. First there is a burning sensation, if you are very sensitive, then the main thing is not to be nervous. Your heart rate and breathing may increase slightly. But only very slightly! For example, I also sweat a little during this procedure, as my face burns quite strongly. But after 3-5 minutes everything calms down. The percentage of Salicylic acid is determined by the master. If the master is experienced, then the likelihood of burning the skin is very small. After the procedure, you cannot wash your face, use cosmetics, etc. I always do this procedure when I am sure that I won’t have to do anything to my face until the morning. The procedure is repeated after about 10 days. There is no particular point in doing it once, so peeling is done in a course of 3 procedures, and then depends on the problem and condition of the skin. Overall a good procedure, no need to be afraid

Advantages:

Excellent result, ideal remedy in the fight against imperfections

Flaws:

Dries the skin very much

Hello! Dear readers of my review, today I would like to share my impressions of a superficial, salicylic, acid 15% facial peeling. I would like to note that this procedure is safe only in a specialized beauty salon; more precisely, I mean that you should not use acid peels at home, without certain knowledge on the use of peeling. I consciously went to a cosmetologist for facial cleansing, I really wanted to be a “star”, so to speak, on the weekend, but after examining my facial skin with her “keen eye,” specialist cosmetologist Marina Sergeevna recommended replacing facial skin cleansing with superficial salicylic acid peeling. After the procedure, while at home, I read that this peeling is very effective in treating acne, oily skin and other facial skin imperfections. I have problem skin, with a pronounced manifestation of minor acne, which periodically appears and disappears. Wow, these hormones. Marina S.’s proposal, to be honest, made the hair on my head stand up with fear. Thoughts about the competence of the specialist, the quality of the composition of this aggressive peeling, and much, much more, flew chaotically through my head. I was very scared. 1) I didn't want to look like the Pink Christmas Pig the next day with a soft crispy crust. 2) I was afraid to appear in “society” with sagging pieces of skin on my face. 3) I was completely unaware of the approximate number of days of recovery, healing of the skin of my face, and most importantly, the possible consequences of this procedure. In a word, there were a lot of fears, but they had to be resolved immediately, and at that time I had absolutely no information about such a salon procedure, for the reason that I went to the salon for facial cleansing. The first time is always scary because of the unknown... but the salon procedure gives an excellent, simply wonderful result, an ideal remedy in the fight against imperfections. I'll start in order. Everything is as it should be, the remnants of cosmetics, foundation, etc. are removed from the face and skin. It seems to me that a moisturizer is applied, but this is not certain. The peeling is applied with a brush to the skin of the face, in the first seconds there is no tingling at all, but after a minute the face is so terribly “blazing with fire” that it seemed to me that I would be left with burns on my face for the rest of my life, I closed my eyes for fear of losing my vision. After about 10 minutes, the sensations change for the better, my face doesn’t feel so hot, I can safely open my eyes and look at the reflection on the stretch ceiling in the form of me lying on the couch, all the terrible experiences are one step behind me. Periodically, a specialist examines areas of already treated “burnt” skin in order to analyze the preliminary result. Assess the state of the “damage done,” thereby introducing me to those areas that are more susceptible to the effects of the aggressive peeling composition, thereby telling me that this or that area of my face will peel off. I’m still looking at the ceiling and don’t understand my happiness, that this is an excellent result. An excellent result, but of course it doesn’t feel like it. After another five minutes, the peeling is removed with gentle movements from the facial skin using cotton pads soaked in water, a moisturizing cream is applied, masks are applied to restore the protective function of the epidermis, nutrition, restore the balance of damaged skin, and finally a hyaluronic mask - in short, any whim for your money. At the exit, they give you small sachets of branded creams for 2 days, for application twice a day, while emphasizing that you need to use only these creams, and subsequently any of your usual facial care products. Examine your reflection in the mirror. Externally, my facial skin looks as if I was left under an ultraviolet lamp for a long time. The skin is smooth, pink, and glossy to the touch. The face burns a little, especially the burned areas, exactly where the skin will peel off or peel off (I don’t know where exactly yet). The next day there are no particularly visible changes in complexion, the skin has acquired almost its original color, the skin is shiny, very smooth, very glossy, a film is noticeable on the surface of the skin. My face feels tight, my skin is very dry, it’s just terrible, I had to apply the cream on my face more than twice exactly, in a good, greasy layer. On the third or fourth day, the film on the face begins to peel off and come off. It looks simply terrible, and you just want to tear off a piece of skin, which, of course, should never be done, so as not to cause an infection and avoid complications. Under no circumstances should you rub your face; scrubbing may leave stains for a long time. It was no coincidence that my trip to the salon was scheduled for Friday; I wanted to sit at home over the weekend (not to scare others with my appearance), although on Saturday I still looked like a “cucumber”. But at work, I felt all the delights of the consequences of this salon procedure, namely, how terribly the top layer of my chin was torn off, it was painful to talk about, simply disgusting. The piece of skin didn’t seem to come off and didn’t seem to hang. I had to tighten it up a little in order to definitely remove the dead piece of epidermis (which is absolutely forbidden to do). In the area of the cheeks and forehead the skin was peeling a little, just a little. For 14 days, the face had to be lubricated with face creams. After more than two weeks, you could already see the result, the result was stunning. The complexion has evened out, expression lines have decreased. The skin simply glowed and shone. I completely forgot about acne. The face seemed fresh, rejuvenated, healthy and “alive”. I can safely say that it was worth it, the result is 5+. Of course, I was confused by one fact that specialist Marina S. with a medical education recommended that, with my skin rashes, I repeat the above-mentioned procedure every two weeks, thereby I had conflicting feelings regarding her competence. After this procedure, my skin recovered for about two months exactly. I dread to imagine what could happen to my face if I had the procedure done every two weeks. But I won’t think badly, maybe you really need to subject your skin to such aggressive procedures every two weeks, but my skin only needed one procedure to see an excellent result. I definitely plan to carry out the above-mentioned procedure in the salon at least every six months or at least once a year. I definitely recommend it.

Advantages:

clean face

Flaws:

peeling, recovery period

I once heard in a salon about a currently popular type of cleansing in the form of salicylic peeling. My mother also did this in Soviet times and was pleased. I learned in more detail that this type of cleansing of the surface of the skin is best suited for dark skin, and that’s exactly what I have. But I thought for a long time about whether to do it or not, because after salicylic acid the skin becomes crusty and peels off a lot, so you need to stay at home for at least 10 days during this recovery period, because the sight is not the most pleasant. Since you need to know and follow all proportions, it is better to contact a cosmetologist directly at the salon. In my case, salicylic peeling was done by a cosmetologist friend of mine. They did it for me using a solution of salicylic acid from the manufacturer Farmak. The payment was purely symbolic: 500 rubles. The procedure itself begins with preparing the skin for cleansing and first removing all impurities and sebum using a special milk before peeling. The skin just becomes softer and prepared for the next stage. Then they applied a special degreasing solution to me to finally remove all the dirt from my skin and disinfect it. Only then did they apply the 15% salicylic acid solution to me. I chose a soft cleaning method and therefore did not rub the composition into me with a cotton pad with pressure, but applied it with cotton swabs without rubbing. It didn't feel very pleasant. The skin burned and tingled unpleasantly, turned red and felt very warm. I constantly wanted to scratch different areas, but they wouldn’t let me, so as not to bring in any nasty things. It feels as if something is crawling up your face and biting you. We kept the composition on the face for a certain time, washed it off, and then applied aloe vera gel. The skin was red for a long time and it was impossible to apply decorative cosmetics. I stayed at home throughout the recovery period. After the redness, I still didn’t touch my face, because I was sensitive to touch. Then on the second day I noticed crusts on my face and it was drying out. After this, the skin began to peel off little by little. All this time I simply washed my face as usual with face gel and applied regular baby cream. The peeling completely stopped on the 5th day. After this, the skin becomes cleaner and the pores are all clean, the complexion has become healthier and more beautiful, a uniform shade and matte appearance have appeared. I also liked that my pigment spots and small acne scars went away. In general, the face is cleaner and more beautiful, but you need to be patient. The cleaning was less aggressive and I had a clear face for another 2 months.

About my skin : problematic, with an oily T-zone, constant breakouts.

When you are constantly fighting for healthy skin, it is not always possible to cope only on your own. I tried for a long time and persistently different products for problem skin, sometimes it even seems to me that I have tested all the cosmetics from this niche, but in the end I realized that I had to start resorting to heavy artillery.

The first salicylic peeling was done by me in a salon, about five years ago. Then I could not appreciate it.

I decided to repeat the peeling only this year and my impressions were very positive.

Firstly, in my opinion, peeling is really ideal for problem skin with rashes, because after the procedure the complexion evens out and pimples dry out.

Secondly, salicylic peeling is quite easy to use and does not require any additional preparation.

Thirdly, the price is quite affordable compared to other types of peelings.

Of course, in different salons the procedure takes place with some differences. I'll tell you about my experience.

First, the cosmetologist prepares the face for peeling (rinses off makeup, cleanses). Then a mixture is applied to the face, which is called peeling. Immediately after application, the skin begins to “burn” strongly, but the burning sensation quickly passes. You need to keep this “mixture” on your face for about 10 minutes. After this, the peeling is neutralized and a protective cream is applied.

On the second day after the procedure, the skin begins to peel and peel (the process is very individual, everyone starts peeling differently). After 3-4 days, the burned layer of skin completely peels off and you can see the result of peeling.

Adviсe:

Throughout the entire time that the skin is peeling, it should be actively smeared with moisturizing creams and try not to use decorative cosmetics.

The sight is not the most pleasant, so it is better not to do the procedure for the faint of heart.

It is better to choose a time for the recovery phase when you do not need to leave the house. But because For many, this is a rather impossible condition; I can say from my own experience that I calmly go to work. There is nothing criminal here, except perhaps for those cases when the work is connected directly with people.

Also, peeling cannot be done during active sun, but as a rule, any more or less decent salon will warn you about this. And no self-respecting cosmetologist will undertake the procedure in the summer or spring.

And now a photo immediately after the procedure (with flaky skin)

And a month after the procedure, one procedure will not solve global problems, so you need to take a course. Everything will depend on the condition of your skin. For some I recommend 10 sessions, for others three is enough.

My suffering with problematic skin began at the age of 14. At the same age, I began to actively use foundation, and at 20, my skin began to look like a breeding ground for pustules. Of course, I tried to correct the situation with the help of expensive (and not so expensive) creams, scrubs, masks, not realizing that the problem of acne needs to be solved comprehensively.

I turned to a dermatologist asking (and even screaming) for help. I was tested for demodicosis (subcutaneous mite, if anyone doesn’t know this horror) and it turned out to be positive. Then a course of antibiotics, talkers, creams and other things began, after which my skin came to a more or less divine state. I cured demodicosis, but there remained local inflammation-pustules and terrible consequences in the form of post-acne and raised skin in dimples from acne.

Of all the peels that exist today, we chose salicylic, which is ideal for my skin type. It was he who was supposed to save my skin from existing problems. The dermatologist applied the peeling using a regular cotton swab to previously cleansed skin (now I bought myself a peeling myself and apply it using a regular brush for applying masks). Then the peeling is removed with a special neutralizer. After the procedure, I was allowed to wash my face only the next day without any cleansers, and only with cold water (and so on for 3 days in a row). All this time you need to use sunscreen, because... You can earn pigment spots (Therefore, peelings are recommended only in winter and autumn).

Since my skin is very sensitive, the peeling caused unpleasant sensations - the skin immediately turned red and began to itch, but this should not be the case! If you experience sensations that are difficult to bear, you must immediately inform the person performing the procedure, he must remove the peeling from your skin! Unfortunately, I didn’t know about this and ended up with a small chemical burn. After the peeling, my skin secreted a large amount of sebum and was shiny, it didn’t look the best, it seemed that it only got worse and nothing had changed - peelings are nonsense, I wasted a thousand rubles, I thought. But two days later, after sleeping, I discovered that my skin began to peel off very well, the subcutaneous tissues were not so red and became smaller in size. I peeled off for about 4 days, and the dermatologist said that you can’t peel off the skin yourself, it should peel off and renew itself.

What we have as a result, 7 days after application:

  • improved complexion, more even tone
  • the texture of the skin after post-acne is much smoother, the pits have leveled out (but I needed 3 more peeling procedures to get rid of the pits completely, I think it’s worth it, the pits were shallow)
  • disappearance of subcutaneous tissues
  • Acne spots have become noticeably lighter

For one salicylic peeling procedure in the salon, I paid 1000 rubles to my dermatologist, so I thought about purchasing a peel for home use. My choice fell on the inexpensive remedy “Likoberon”. The price of this peeling is 600 rubles on the joint venture website (+ peeling neutralizer for 300 rubles), volume - 15 ml, peeling 20%. Later I will write a detailed review on it with tips for use.

Frequently Asked Questions About Salicylic Acid

Dermatologist Alexander Prokofiev, an expert of the La Roche-Posay brand, answers the questions.

Is it possible to apply salicylic acid to acne?

Formulas with salicylic acid are designed specifically for the care of oily skin prone to imperfections. Safe corrective care for oily problem skin can be purchased at pharmacies in your city.

Is it possible to wipe your face with salicylic acid?

It is not recommended to wipe your face with a pharmaceutical alcohol solution of salicylic acid, even with very oily skin. The product dries out the epidermis, which will provoke increased sebum synthesis; the skin will begin to self-hydrate, which will cause clogged pores and rashes. It is better to wipe your face with a salicylic acid-based toner, for example, Effaclar mattifying pore-narrowing lotion.

Who is salicylic acid suitable for?

Salicylic acid is most often found in skin care formulas for oily, acne-prone skin. If you have sensitive, dry skin, you should avoid using acid-containing cosmetic products.
